Cincinnati, May 21.—William Am-
iuen,alia<* Storey, of Ht. Louis, recently
eloped with Jennie Atchley, tho wife of
a farmer of Bitavio, Ohio. Ho waa cap
tured and placed in jail at Batavia.
Early this morning a mob entered tho
jail, seized Storey and hung him on one
efthe timbers of the bndgo over tbo
Little Miami. After hanging a few
minutes the rope broke and Storey
dropped into tho river, and succeeded in
gaining tbe shore, whence ho was taken
to a hotel, where ho remains.

Mr. Weaver moved to amend tbe lith
section by adding to it a clause directing
the Secretary of the Treasury to causo to
be paid out without discrimination, stan
dard silver coin belonging to tho Govern
ment that may be. m the Treasury, tho
same so gold coin, in liquidation of all
kinds of ooin obligations against tbe
Government. Tbe amendment was adopt
ed by a voto of 142 to 75, and tho section
as amended, was agreed to. The discus
sion continued on the bill till 5 o’clock,
when the Houee adjourned.

Dodge waa made Chairman and T. A.
Walker Secretary. The oommitteo on
credentials reported 47C delegates pres
ent out of G09 provided for in the call.
A Stats Central Committee, headed by
Ed. Campbell, Jr., of the first district,
was appointed. General Dodge, upon
taking the chair, denounced tbo Republi
can parly for forcing the resumption of
speeid payments, and advocated the un
ion of nit the elements opposed to the
Republican party. H. H. Tremble was
nominated for Governor by acclamation,
and Moses Blsom for Lieutenant Gov
ernor.

Memorial Day in Richmond.
Richmond, May 21.—Memorial Day
was observed with the usual decorations
of the graves of Confederate soldiers In
Hollywood cemetery. Tno immense
monumental granite ooue on the grounds
was covered from base to apex with flow
ers aud evergreens, while a thousand
graves received like attention. The State
edicts at the oapitol and many of the
pilooipal business houses were closed
daring the afternoon. The military dis
play, however, waa not as great as in
former years. Only two companies vis
ited the cemetery. James Lycas, Jr.,
delivered the memoritl address this after
noon in presence of a Urge conoonne of
people. It is estimated that from fif
teen to twenty thousand persons visited
the cemetery.

row occurred last evening at Madison, in
Madison county, iu this State, between
twu colored companies of base ball play
ers. A company from Tallahassee visited
Madison to play with the company there.
The game not going right, a fight arose
daring whioh one man was shot and is
now not expeoted to lire, and another so
badly cat that he may die. Several oth
ers wero severely wounded. Sixteen of
tho party were arrested and pnt in jail
last evening.
The trial of Holl and Golding for a
conspiracy to defraud the voters of Bre
vard oonnty at the last election is pro-
