Total nnmber of deaths, according to the
official announcement of the Board of
Health, ending ending six o’clock to
night, were 44. Deaths from yellow fe
ver 2G; from other causes, 18. It was
the pnrpose of tha President to declare
the fever epidemic as the nnmber of
deaths from this disease exceed those
from nil causes combined, bnt as its
death ra'e for the week ehowB a material
decrease from that of tho previous week,
he withdraws the declaration for the
present. Last week the total nnmber of
deaths were 71—from yellow fever 31,
from other causes 39. The physicians
ure sanguine that me maximum death
rate has been reached, and a decrease in
the number of deaths can bo expected.
