Tee returns show a falling off of $219,
657 in the grand aggregate of the value
of property in the county. This is due
to a general shrinkage of value. This
amount is not exceseive, however, and is
proportionally much less than in many
other counties of the State. It is thought
the returns of next year will show an in
creaso in the general aggregate. The
improvements now going on in the city
property wilt certainly be shown on tho
lax books of next year and there is no
reason, as far as can bo now known, for
any further falling off ia the value of
property ontaide of the city.
