Jackson, of this city. General Jackson

most likely go over until Monday next
Tbe trial cannot possibly last morn thau
a week at tbe almost, tbe popular impres
sion being Ibat it o-tunot oocupy more

ANOTBER RESIGNATION.
Yesterday, late in the evening, Dr.
Thomas P. Janea tendered bis.resigna
tion to the Governor of tbe office of
Commissioner of Agriculture of the State
of Georgia. Tbe reasons influencing Dr.
Janes to take this step are not known..
It is said that as bis office is one of ap
pointment by tbe Governor that Dr.
JancB is desirous to save the Governor
tbe embairassment of acting on bie osse
by tendering hie resignation of the same
and that he fears personal enemies who
will jeopardise tbe bureau if be remains
in office.
It is also said that the investigating
oommittee have disooverud certain irreg
ularities or erookodness in the ooaduoc
and affairs of the office of Commissioner
of Agriculture which will neceesiate tbe
resignation of the Commissioner, and
thns he is simply making a virtue of ne
cessity.
The eommitto have not yet made thoir

days.
THE NK17 COMMISSIONER.
Who will bo tbe new Commissioner is
not one of the known things at present.

of two Committees of Conference, the

AN IMPORTANT BILL.
A bill to pay Solicitors General, clerks,
sheriffs, magistrates and constables, in
solvent costs out of tbe fund raised from
tne bire of persons convicted of felony.
Tbe bill came up this morning, and,
after a debate of some length, was voted
down by a very small majority.
Mr. Harris, of Bibb, advocated the
peerage of tbe bill on tbe ground that
this is a fend wninh belongs to each coun
ty in the State, and not to tbe State
Treasury. Tbe offioers of court are en
titled to the fund because they bring It
into court, and because they ate required
by law to perform the eerfiees, and yet
from the fact tbat the parties condemned
are frequently insolvent, the officers get
no pay. The tax payers suffer nothing
beoause the -fund does not come ont of
them; it hurts nobody, and u an aot of
justice to the officers, who are entitled to
oost for services rendered the State and
county. Caboltsk.

Femalb Weaksess.-Vegetine acts directly
upon the causes of these complaints. It tnvig-

upon the secretive organs, allays inflammation,
cleanse* and cures ulceration, cures constipation,
regulates the bowels, headaches and pains in the
baekceore, in fact there is no disec se or com
