JUT SHIP AT HEA.
How tniny cbipa Fro cent to sen—
Jlnoyaut with bope and foil of glee,
How few returned to me?
Ship, that I'vo freighted wub my all
Drifted away beyond recall,
Bat storms will rise and storms will fall
And rhipi go down at sea.
now oft, with sails all golden-bright
With sunlight—they bare passed from sight
Wb.ie from .ho shore have I
Kept watch with etger ere,
Until my ship bid floated by;
Until wiibaaile a'i proudly set,
Jut where the earth with heaven met,
They vanished—while I lingered yet.
Bat storms will come, and winds will blow—
My ships are driven to and fro—
Aod some go down at seal
And some mere wrecks, from oat the past—
Mere boll, and spar and brolc-n mast.
With all their treasures overctst,
float back to me.
And then 1 sigh o'er what I’ve lost;
Weep o’er my bfe so tempest tost—
ho cheerless— and so dreai!
Why trust frail barks onto Tbs soa?
West Uiog they back bat grief to me?
Bat gr ef. and pain and m-sery.
To rood my soul with f jar! __
Those shattered wrecks tbs cruel sea
Oasts on the shore to tortnr* ms
Are filled with phantoms dread!
Phantom* of all I’ve lost before—
Of hopes and Joys dead in the yoro;
Of hopes aod loves that come no moro;
And with these dead from unknown shore,
Oome oibur dead to make me sore—
The ernel, living dead!
But still, forgntting all my paio.
My barks I launch upon tbs main,
To cross the heaving sea,
Hoping that when all storms are past.
Home annoy port I'll reach at last.
To fiod witn Joy, all anchored fast,
My ships, awaiting me!

**I am too late for this month’s draw

becoming very general among those who
loiter and wait ontil the day immediately
preceding the monthly drawing of the
Louisiana Stale Lottery Company, which
occurs invariably at Near Orleans on the
second Tuesday in every month. The
fact is that the integrity with which
every action of this institution is charac
terised has so strengthened its repntation
that its tickets are sold every month >om«
days before the diswing, and therefore
any one desirous of investing in thin
manner should suffer no time to elapse
befoie they correspond with M. A. Dau

same person at No. 319 Broadway, New
