Washington, December 5.—The Post Oifico Department to-day made arrange ments to place Steamboat Mail Service six times a week on tho ronte between Donsldaenville, La., and tbo month of Rsd river, thcro to connect with tho ex isting land mail eervioa up tho Red rivor valley to Shreveport. The new service will go into operation Janaary the tenth. The orders are issued at the instanoe of tho Louisiana delegation, who ,have been endcavoriag to obtain this much needed extension ot the mail facilities for nearly a year past. News Items.
