TO COTTON PLANTERS.
The result of the late election, for President of the
United States, developes the fact, that there is a party
in power who are seeking control of our consciences,
and the destruction of our property. The events that
are being developed, however, show that the Southern
States will not submit to be ruled by such a power.—
These political difficulties indicate a change in our
Commercial relations with the Northern States, from
whence our supplies have been mostly received, and a
return to a more legitimate and direct trade. To those
who desire to promote this legitimate aud direct trade,
if there are any such, and they are at a loss as to how
to accomplish this object, I will say to them that I will
receive Cotton destined for foreign markets; will
when desired, advance one half the value of the cot
ton, at the port of embarkation; will have the cotton
shipped to' Liverpool, if not otherwise directed, and
sold. The proceeds cf sale returned in gold and such
articles of produce as tho planter may require. For all
advances, interest will be charged at seven per cent—
Charges on the other side, the usual commission for
selling cotton and purchasing supplies.
Without conference, I refer to the following gentle
men:
Hon. K. A Nifibet, Macon.
W.J5. Phillips, Griffin.
W. J. Anderson. Fort Valley.
Jno. V. Price, Americas.
Nelson Tift. Albany.
Jas. It. Redd, Columbus.
O. P. Beall, Cathbert.

Respectfully,
HIRAM hOBERTS.

Coroner’s Inquests.—Coroner Eden, held
an inquest, Saturday last, on the body of Cath
arine Dermott, aged two years. The jury ren
dered the following verdict: The deceased
came to her death by a horse and dray passing
over her head, which horse aud dray were un
der the control of James Kennedy. The jury
says further : We find James Kennedy guilty of
involuntary manslaughter.
~Kn inquest was also held yesterday morning
on the body of Thomas Caromody. Verdict of
the jury : that the deceased came to his death
by a wound inflicted in his left side by some
person not convicted by any evidence before
them.
The Races,
Saturday closed the racing over the Ten
Brocek Course, with a most excellent day’s
sport. The weather was rather gloomy and
threatened rain, which debared many of the
usual visitors from attending, and this was to
be regret ted, as the race was the most closely
contested and most exciting of the whole week.
We allude, of course, to the handicap, as Planet
only galloped ovdr for the four mile purse.
Three horses were started for the handicap,
riz : Jack the Ii>.ir5cr, Mary Allen, aud Bill Dear-
i/jff, the latter carrying twelve pounds and a
half below the regular weight for his age. They
all start&1 evenly from the score, at a rapid
pace. Jack leading, Mary close up, and Bill
Bearing bringing up the rear. Near the first
quarter, the mare began to draw up and on the
back stretch passed Jack, and lead for several
hundred yards, but as they swung into the
home stretch, the horse again recovered his
place, and came in a winner of the heat, in 1
min. 53 see. Mary Allen about two lengths be
hind, aud Bill Bearing, dropping quietly within
his distance.
After the usual interval, the horses were
again brought up and with an even start, dash
ed off each apparently running for the heat from
the’jump, Jack leading as before, followed by
the mare and Bill Bearing third ; but as they
approached the first quarter, BUI made a des
perate rush and soon overtook the others, and
for a quarter of a miie, a blanket might have
covered all three.
After passing the half mile pole, Bill began to
open the way ahead, and by the time the home
stretch was reached, had got a length the ad
vantage of Jack, who, how ever, hung close to
his heels, but without overtaking him and he
came in the winner of the second heat in lm.
51%s., Mary Allen, just saving her distance.
The third and fourth heats were run in near
ly the same manner, desperately contested

Tile Florida Mails.
We have had no mail from Florida for over a
week. We understand the mail boat has been
chartered by the State of Florida, to transport
arras and artillery from St. Augustine to Fer-
nandina, and tke people of Georgia and Florida
must await the termination of her contract be
fore they have any regular mail either way. Wi
understand further, that the mail is taken from
the Post Office here by the contractors, at the
regular hour, on Tuesdays and Fridays, but
where it is taken to is a mystery, as there is no
boat to 'Carry it, nor any other mode of con
veyance ; and the presumption is that the mail
bags arc either boxed or barreled up, and ship
ped as freight to their destination.
The irregularity of the mail service along the
line of this route has been the subject of much
complaint for months past.
A correspondent writes from White Bluff:
“ Can’t you do something lor us in the mail
matter. We have no mail, unless we send to
Jacksonville for it.” Savannah.

result o f acute disease or of the continued diminution
oi uervous and muscular energy from chronic com
plaints, one trial of this restorative has proved success
ful to an extent which no description nor written attes

ridden its to have become lorgotten m their own ncign-
borhooda, have suddenly re-appeared in the busy world
as if just returned from protracted-travel in a distant
land. Some very signal instances of this kind are at
tested ol female Suffer*Ta, emaciated victims of appa
rent marasmus, sanguineous ezhaustion,crftieal change?,
and that complication ol nervous and dyspetic aversion
to air aud exercise for which the physician haa uo
