ored). Larceny from the house. Found gmlty,
and ordered to close confinement in j«U for one
month, and then be discharged upon payment of

ed.) Assault and battery. It appearing from
the ovidenee that the defendant has generally sus
tained a good character for peaceful behavior, it
is ordered that he be lined in the sum of $o and
c-ftr, or in default of payment, he be confined in
jail for ton days.
Tho United states vs. John Miller, (colored).
Drawing a razur and interfering with an officer
in the discharge of his duty. The defendant was
found guilty, and sentenced to pay a fine of $51)
and costs, or in default of payment, to be sent to
jail, and confined until said fine is paid, not to
exceed a term of two months.
The United States vs. Joseph McKay. Disor
derly conduct aod resisting an officer in the dis
charge of his duty. The defendant in this case,
being a soldier of the United States army, will bo
sent under proper guard to his Rogiment for pun
ishment.
David Gibson, (colored), vs. A. C. Cabiness.—
Recovery of wages. Defendant having confessed
judgment in the sum of ten dollars, it is ordered
that the sum confessed bo paid instanter, as
also tbe costs of suit.
Betty Stephens, colored, vs. Mrs. Cohen.
Recovery of wages. The plaintiff having failed
to make out her claim, judgment was given
in favor of defendant.
It being represented to me that certain per
sons are trespassing upon the property belong
ing to the estate of the late- George W. Mc
Allister, situated, in Bryan county, on the
Ogeechee, and known as Strathey Hall, it is
hereby ordered, that any person, white or
colored, who, from this day, shall enter on tbe
land aforesaid, and commit any act whatever,
detrimental to either the real or personal
property of said estate, or in any way interfere
with the freedmen or other persons now occu
pying said land, ander military orders, or
orders issued from the Freedmen’s Bureau,
will be severely punished by fine and imprisbn-
ment.

SHIPPING.

The Steamer’ Annie.
The steamer Annie, Captain F. Feck, from
Charleston, arrived yesterday morning, con
signed to F. M. Myrell. The Annie is a first
class iron steamer of 217 tons burthen, and
during the war was captured off' St. Thoma-,
suspected of being engaged in running the
blockade. She is a fine modeled steamer, and
from her appearance capable of attaining great
speed. IFhatever may have been her former
occupation, she now belongs to private parties,
and is here seeking business. Her comman
der Captain F. Feck, is an old and experienced
officer, and lias long been identified with the
steamer boat trade between Charleston and
Savannah, and wc again welcome him amongst
us.
Departure if Steamship*.
On Saturday afternoon tbe steamship Chase,
Capt. Rogers, Messrs. Hunter A GammelPs lin^
departed for New York,With a eargo of 2S6 bales
of cotton and sundry ptpksges of merchandize-
She also bad on board thffl62d Regiment of New
York Volunteers, under^the command ot Cob
Blanchard. This regimelt, upon their arrivej
at the North, will be musfired out of service.
The steamship Raleiglj Capt. Walker, wag
also cleared by .John R. ^Vilder, Esq., for New
York. She carried out a lajge number of passen
gers, and her cargo consisted of 1,295 bales of
Upland, and 36 do. Sea Isknd Cotton, together
with other merchandize.

TheU. S. lug steamer Ge(. Sheridan, Captain
Palmer, arrived yesterday horning from Hilton
Head. While coming up tie river she met the
steamship Vanina, from Ne^ York, at anchor off
Fort Jackson waiting for th| tide, in accordance
with the wishes of thepassagers of the Varans,
they were transferred to thejGen. Sheridan and
lauded at her wharf.
