rrniis incomparable and invaluable remedy to
1 long known, and used with such unparrallcled
success in Dm Canadas for the last 30 yeais, ap
pears to need no panegyric. Ms operation upon the
human system is such that it invariably acts like
a charm, for Dm relief and radical cure of a certain
common and disagreeable ‘ ills the flesh is heir to.”
This prize obtains its own name from the certain
success which has attended it through alt of its
trying circumstances, namely, “five days,” —the
same success which followed it in a Northern lati
tude still obtains in a more Southern. The formula
or recipe was obtained at great expense, intrigue
and hazard by Al. Chevercs, from the celebrated
Indian Chief Wabenothe, or Great Moon, whilst
he, with others was pursuing the lucrative Fur bu
siness in the North-west with the Indians.—
Wabenoshc prized highly and use it with invariable
success throughout bis two tribes. Its known and
valued virtues have already enriched to an almost
incredible extent the < hildren of this warlike prince,
not only by actual sale of the article itself to in
dividuals, but by parting with copies of his receipt
at enormous prices to Inc Chief of every tribe of
Indians in America, with a solemn promise to Die
Great Spirit, never to divulge the “art of its com
position until be sleeps with IDs fathers,” although
free to use it in tiieir respective tribes, which
places it in the bands of every Indian who rely
with, I may say, icligious confidence on its cura
ble powers.
Below is a copy of Die translation as near as it can
be anglisizcd of Die deed given by Wabenoshc, lo
M. Ghcvcret, wlien he purchased the original recipe,
and bad twice assisted Die Chief himself through
the tedious manipulatory process of manufacture
Few while men would credit the length of time
which is consumed in preparing the article for im
mediate use.

This Medicine, I warrrnt by this publication, un
der a penalty of $3,000, not to contain one parti
cle of corrosive preparation. It is purely vegata
hlc in its essences. Us first and prominent virtue
is to subdue every vestige of inflamation, and then
acts mildly and copiously -is a diuretic ; thereby
holding within itself, every requisite virtue, for
the suhdiiction of this loathsome malady—and ev
ery regular graduate in medicine, will sustain the
assertion, that copious diuresis and reduction of in
flation, arc the only two things necessary to effect
a sound and radical cure.
’I lie most peculiar virtue of the “Cinq Jours,”
is in this, that wherever it alone has been used to
a Heel a cure, none of those tenacious and disagree
able consequences which almost invariably results
from the sudden cure of Gonorrhoea, have been
known to obtain such as stricture, hernia, liumor
nlis, incontinence, and a swarm of other of the
most loathsome, perplexing, and disagreeable dis
eases, consequent upon erroneous diagnosis and
treatment of Gonorrhtca.
Those affected are requested to call and try for
themselves. If the prescriptions are well follow
ed and fail to cure, the money will in every case he
returned.
You tan do what you please and eat what you
please.

Dll. MILKS’ COMPOUND EXTRACT OF
TOMATO —a substitute for Calomel, and
does not belong to the family of quack medicines;
for the reason that the component parts are made
known to Die faculty, or any one else that may
wish to know, by any of the agents keeping them
for sale. Since this discovery so long and anx
iously' looked for, some one in almost the extreme
North lias advertised a Tomato Pill, purporting to
be made from the stalk, a thing not more absurd
than for one to offer meal from (he corn stalk, to
say nothing of the difficulty of raising the 'Tomato
so far North.
Dr. Miles, of Cincinnati, is Die proprietor of the
Tomato Pills (proper) for the great benefits of i
which, be holds himself bound, and in honor plcdg- :
od to prove by their use, that they arc all that they 1
profess to be, and will do for others what they
have done for such as mav have used Diem; as
this is a vegetable of great use, and value, it will
doubtless be valuable information to families to
know that the Yellow are just doubly as valuable
as the Red Tomato, and produces twice as much
of the bapatine, or active principle, and when used
as a daily vegetable will be found to keep the
sy stem in much better condition than the other
kind; many will recollect with what trembling
anxiety calomel has been given to children, and
bow they then wished for a substitute, it has
long been known Tomato contained ca
thartic principles, but not until of late was it
ascertained that they contained alterative and diu
retic properties. The Faculty- embrace and use
the preparation most cheerfully, for Die reason that
they know what it is Were it a patent mystery,
they would be bound to reject Die medicine, as they
justly do Die one thousand and one cure-alls of the
day. If you wish to cleanse the system with a
mild, sa.e anti-bilious medicine, use the Tomato
Pill, of which n supply, we learn, will soon be in
this city. We all know something about this,

Radical Cure ol lleriimor Rupture, by Dr.
Chase’s Improved Surgeons’ Trusses.
rill I E subscriber Ims opened an office, al the Drug
£ store of Messrs. J, J. Robertson & Go., for tlie
treatment of Hernia or Rupture, by means of these
ustly celebrated instruments. He has now used
them for nearly a year, and, did not delicacy forbid,
he could name several persons who have been radi
cally cared, of this truly distressing and dangerous
affection, by the use of these Trusses, besides manv
others who are in a fairway of being entirely re
lieved. The following is the language of the com
mittee ol the Philadelphia Medical Society- on the
Radical Cure of Hernia.
“ Tin- instruments of Dr. (’base have effected
the permanent and accurate retention of the in
testines in every ease of Hernia observed by Die
committee, without material inconvenience io the
patient, and often under trials more severe than
are usually ventured upon by those who wear other
trusses; Dials that would be imprudent with any
other apparatus known to the committee.”
“ The committee arc induced by the foregoing
conclusions to recommend, in strong terms, the in
struments of Mr. Chase to the confidence of
the profession, as the best known means of me
chanical retention in hernia, and as furnishing the
highest chances of radical cure.”
The following is from the Southern Medical and
Southern Journal, published in our own city.
“ All must admit of the radical cure of hernia,
and that Dr. Chase’s Trusses are decidedly the best
y-el invented to effect the object.”
Persons from a distance can have the instruments
applied, uimii application at the office, and all ne
cessary information given to enable them to adjust
it themselves. 'The poor, who are laboring under
DDs afflicting complaint, will be treated gratuitous

The instruments are of all sizes, and applicable
to every variety of reducible rupture.

case. I have a sister who had been for a long pe
riod severely afflicted with dropsy in the chest and
was brought by it to the very verge of the grate.
She was attended hy the most eminent physicians
that money could procure; but all their efforts to
restore her to health, or even to mitigate her suffer
ings were fruitless; and accordingly, we all consid
ered her immediate death as inevitable. Hy good
fortune, however, as she was in this situation, ex
pecting every day to be her last, your pills were
introduced into my family, and so speedy and pal
pable wore their effeqts that three doses visibly re
lieved her, and in less than three months she was
perfectly restored to health. This case, I and all
who were witness of it, (but more especially the
suffering party,) considered to be the next thing to
miraculous; and yet I could mention many more
of an equally desperate nature, in which yourpills
were equally successful in rescuing the patients
from the jaws of death. Need 1 add that the popu
larity of your medicine amounts to enthusiasm in
this section of the country ? But this I presume
you know from the immense quantity you dispose
of, I may mention, however, that notwithstanding
its general use,l never heard an individual complain
of its effects. My residence is 12 miles from Ral
eigh, on the road to Fayetteville. I am, with sen
timents of regard, your ob’t servant.

To Dr. Peters, —Sir—F'or upward" of fifteen
months, I have been cruelly afflicted with Fever
and Ague; and during the time could hud nothing —
though I had applied to every thing that gave me
any thing like permanent relief. At length, how
ever, your pills were recommended to me, hy one
of our best physicians, and I am most grateful and
happy in being able to add, that I had scarcely used
two boxes when 1 found that they had restored me
to perfect health. Since then, various members of
my family have used them with equal success—
and consequently 1 feel it my duty to apprise you
of the fact, and to request of you to publish this
certificate, as lam anxious to add my public testi
mony to the almost miraculous virtues of your un
rivalled medicine. Respectfully yours,
THEODORE JAMES.

Dr. J. P. Peters —My Dear Sir—On the night of
the 11th inst.,l was called in great haste to the
house of a fellow citizen, (Mr. Lee,) where I found
his son laboring under a nrost alarming attack of
Cynaneho Ttacnealis (Cronp) and apparently be
yond the aid of remedy. By the greatest good for
tune, however, I had iu my pocket a broken box of
your pills—four of which i administere I, with
such immediate happy effect that in a few minutes
my patient was at ease, and out of danger. This
case, in connection with my name ts at your ser

you that your inestimable medicine is in such great
favor with the faculty here, that 1 believe there is
not one of them who does not use it in his private

Extract from a letter written by Dr. Francis Bo

pills arc an excellent aperient and cathartic medi

of the quantity taken, and are decidedly superior
to Lee’s, Brandreth’s or Morrison’s Pills.
Extract from a letter by Dr. Hopson of Bangor,

Extract of a letter from Dr. Prichard of Hudson,

and felt assured that he would some day (from his
intimate knowledge of the properties of herbs

to my expectations. They are indeed a superior
medicine, and reflect credit alike upon the Chemist,
the Physician, and the Philosopher.

evidently very surprising.

FINHE great celebrity of this unrivalled Cornpo-

the complaints, which A speedily overcomes, were
bovond the rvnehof human remedy, as for upwards
of a thousand vtars. they nad baffled the wisdom
and ingenuity of the most profound physicians in

the great advantage of tho human race, soon proved
itself to be the desideratum so long sought for ; and
accordingly, notwithstanding tl e Intel peri.d of its

it Is eagerly inquired for throughout the civilized

“Le Cordial De Luciue,” or, in English, “the
Lucira Cordial,” is a general invigorator of the
human fromo! In all the various cases of languor,
lassitude, and debilitation ; it is an unfailing reme
dy ; as it. is equally its province to impart cheerful
ness and decision to the mind, ns health and vigor
to the body But the peculiar virtue on which its
celehrily is based, is the facility and certainty with
which it restores the virile powers when they have
hern destroyed by disease.time,recklessness,orany
of the numerous onuses vyhich terminate in the
prostration of those functions.
In common with the generality of really good
medicines, ihisl ordial coni a. ns nothing of a mer]
curial or deleterious nature, among t he many ingre
dients which compose it; hut is, at ihesame lime,
so simple, yet so efficacious, that while it can reno
vate the prostrated energies of a giant, an infant,
may use it,not only with impunity, but with ad
vantage.
The usages of society are unfortunately such,
that, notwithstanding the benefits which would be
sure to result from it, weeannotenter into an analy
sis ol this ine-timable Cordial hero, or publish many
of the documents which have been received, as
vouchers of the blessings n lias conferred on num
bers of dcspairingindividuals. But this wc cannot
forbear remarking—that il lias been demonstrated
that there is scarcely ever, it any such thing at all,
ns natural barrenness, or as natural imbecility of
the procreant functions, in cither sex ; and therefore,
that those evils are the eflecls of artificial causes,
and may be speedily subdued and removed by the
use ol “ Le Cordial do Lncino.”
The Lucina Cordial is also tn indubitable cure
for the Gleet, and the Fluor Albus, obstructed, diffi
cult, or painful Menstruation; also, for the incon
tinence ol Urine,or the involuntary discharge there
of It is likewise an invaluable and unrivalled
medicine incases of Chronic Eruptions of thoskin,
and in the dropsical affections of the aged.

1 am now on the wrong side of eighty, and yet I
could beon my honor or oaih if necessary, that a

To Dr. Magnin;—My dear friend—l om most
gratified at l lra unprecedented popularity ol your
“Lucina Cordial,” and am able to .ear testimony to
its surprising virtue, 1 had a patient recently,
1 M , a gentleman ot fortune, who had lire
several years abandoned himself in the vortex ot
dissipation ; and was only reclaimed from it at
length by the utter prostration of all his virile ener
gies. He was, indeed, reduced to the last extremity
of debility and t istelessness, for, if an occasional
flash of excitement warmed his system, the reac
tion was almost immediate, and tho result perlect
prostration. I had applied oil the usual nostrums
in such cases; but, as 1 had anticipated, without
success ; mid when I saw the “ Lucfia Cordial”
advertised, 1 must confess thalevon the great weight
of your name did not gi\ e me much hope in it, at
least so far as regarded the case in hand. 1 felt
bound to try it,however, and was soon satisfied of
its efficacy; for before a bottle was expended, my
patient gavoevidencc of the returning elasticity of
his system ; and lie is now, having used four bottles,
as weltls over.
Tiie number of documents, such as the above
which have been received by Mr. Magnin, since the
first appearance ol “ Le Cordial de Lncine,” would
fill a volume ns large as the Bible.
