This Medicine, I warrrnt hy tins publication, un
der a penalty of *5,000, not to contain one parti
cle of corrosive preparation. It is purely vega ta
ble in its essences. Its first and prominent virtue
is to subdue every vestige of infiamation, and then
acts mildly and copiously as a diuretic j thereby
holding within itself, every requisite virtue, for
the subduction of this loathsome malady—and ev
ery regular graduate in medicine, will sustain the
assertion, that copious diuiesis and reduction of in
flation, arc the omy two things necessary to effect
a sound and radical cure.
The most peculiar virtue of the “Cinq Jours,”
is in this, that wherever it alone has been used to
"Reel a cure, none of those tenacious and disagree
able consequences which a'most invaiiably results
from the sudden cure of Gonorri ma, have been
know’ll to obtain such as stricture, hernia, humor
( aljs, incontinence, and a swarm of other of the
most loathsome, perplexing, and disagreeable dis
eases. consequent upon erroneous diagnosis and
treatment of Gonorrhoea.
Those affected are requested to call and try for
themselves. If the prescriptions are we'l fol'ow
ed and fail to cure, the money will in every case be
returned.
You can do what you please and cat what you
please.

TO THE FACULTY AND HEADS OF i
FA All MEN. |
DU. MILES’ COMPOUND EXTRACT OF i
TOMATO—a substitute for Calomel, and (
does not belong to the family of, quack medicines;
for the reason that the component parts are made I
known to the faculty, or nny one else that may "
wish to know, by any of tbe agents keeping them
for sale. Since this discovery so long and anx
iously looked for, some one in almost the extreme
North has advertised a Tomato Pill, purporting to
he made from the stalk, a thing not more absurd
than for one to offer meal from the corn stalk, to ,
say nothing of the difficulty of raising the Tomato I
so far North.
Dr. Miles, of Cincinnati, is the proprietor of the
Tomato Pills (proper) for the great benefits of 1
which, bo holds himself bound, and in honor pledg
ed to prove by their use, that they are ail that they
profess to be. and will do for otheis what they
have done for such as mav have used them; as
this is a vegetable of great use, ami value, it will
doubtless be valuable information to families to
know that the Yellow are just doubly as valuable
us the God Tomato, and produces twice as much
of the hapatinc, or active principle, and when used
us a daily vegetable will be found to keep the
s} stem in much better condition than the other
kind ; many will recollect with what trembling
anxiety calomel has been given lo children, and
how they then wished for a substitute, it has
long been known that the Tomato contained ca
thartic principles, but not until of late was it
ascertained that they contained alterative and diu
retic properties. The Faculty embrace and use
the preparation most cheerfully, for the reason that
they know what it is Were it a patent mystery,
they would be bound to reject tbc medicine, ns they
justly do the one thousand and one cure-alls of the
day. If you wish to cleanse the system w ith a
mild, sa e anti-bilious medicine, use the lomnto
Pill, of which a supply, wo learn, will soon be in
this city. We all know something about this,

Radical Cure oi Hernia or Rapt arc, by Dr.
Chase’s Improved Surgeons’ Trusties.
fill IF. subscriber lias opened an office, at the Drug

treatment of Hernia or Rupture, by means of these
ustly celebrated instruments. He has now used
them for nearly a year, and, did not delicacy forbid,
he could name several persons who have been radi
cally cured, of Pits truly distressing and dangerous
affection, by the use of these Trusses, besides man;
others who are in a fairway of being entirely re
lieved. The following is the language of the com
mittee ol the Philadelphia Medical Society on the
Radical t ore of lleinia.
“ The indnnnents of Dr. Chase have effected
the permanent and accurate retention of the in
testines in every case of Hernia observed by the
committee, without material inconvenience to the
patient, and often under trials more severe than
are usually ventured upon by those who wearothei
trusses; trials that would be imprudent with any
other apparatus known lo the committee.”
“ The committee arc induced by the foregoing
conclusions to recommend, in strong terms the in
struments of Dr. Chase to the confidence of
tbe profession, ns the best known means of me
chanical retention in hernia, and as furnishing the
highest chances of radical cure.”
The fol owing is from the Southern Medical and
Southern Journal, published in ur own oily.
“ All must admit of the radical cure of hernia,
and that Dr. Chase’s Trusses are decidedly the best
yet invented to effect the object.”
Persons from a distance can have the instruments
applied, upon application at the office, and all ne
cessary information given to enable them to adjus[
it themselves. The poor, who are laboring under
this afflicting complaint, will bo treated gratuitous
ly upon presenting a certificate from some responsi
blc person, of their pecuniary disability.
The instruments are of ali sizes, and applicable
to every variety of reducible rupture.

highly respectable Planter of Wake County, No
Ca , March 3d, 1838:
Dr. Peters—Hear Sir, —By requestof youragent,
Mr. Harrison, I send you a few lines respecting the
almost miraculous effects of your pißs; and i would
a-d, that you may make use ol them, in connection
with my name, in any manner you deem proper, I
speak of their merits from experience,as I and my
family have taken upwards of thirty boxes in three
years; and so great ane the benelits we have receiv
ed from them in general, that I would rather pur
chase them at ten dollars a box than have my house
without them. 1 will not enumerate the afflictions
they have iclievcd ns of; but 1 can assure you they
were many, and of very opposite natures, which
has fuily proved to me that your medicine is a sim
ple purifier of the system, and therefore equally
the enemy of every disaase. Iwi 1 mention one
case. I have a sister who had been for a long |>e
riod severely afflicted with dropsy in the chest and
was brought by it to the very verge of the gra\ e.
She was attended by the most eminent physicians
that money could procure; but all their efforts to
restore her to health, or even to mitigate her suffer
ings were fruitless ; and accordingly, we all consid
ered her immediate death as inevitable. By good
fortune, however, as she was in this situation, ex
pect ng every day to be her last, your pills wore
introduced into my family, and so speedy and pal
pable were their effects that three doses visibly re
lieved her, and in less than three months she was
perfectly restored lo health. This case, 1 and all
who were witness of it, (but more especially the
suffering party,) considered to be the next thing to
miraculous; and yet I could mention many more
of an equally desperate nature, in which your pills
were equa ly successful in rescuing the patients
from the jaws of death. Need I add that the popu
larity of your medicine amounts to enthusiasm in
this section of the country > But this I presume
you know fiom the immense quantity you dispose
of I may mention, however, that notwithstanding
its general use, i never heard an individual complain
of its effects. My residence is 12 miles from Ral
eigh, on the road to Fayetteville. I am, with sen
timents of regard, your ob’t servant.
A. G. BANKS.
To Dr. Peters, —Sir—For upward" of fifteen
months, I have been c.uelly afflicted with Fever
and Ague; and during the time could find nothing—
though I had applied to every thing that gave me
any thing like permanent relief. At length, how
ever, your pills were recommended to me, by one
of our best phj sicians, and I am most grateful and
happy in being able to add, that 1 had scarcely used
two boxes when I found that they had restored me
to perfect health. Since then, various members of
my family have used them with equal success—
and consequently 1 feci il my duty to apprise you
of the fact, and to request of you to publish this
certificate, as I am anxious to add my public testi
mony to tin.- almost miraculous virtues of your tin
rivalled medicine. Respectfully yours
THEODORE’JAMES.

Communication received from the eminent Dr. J.
H. Irwin of Florence, Georgia:
Dr. J. H. Peters —My Dear Sir—On the night of
the 11 th Inst., I was called in great haste to the
house of a fel ow ei.izen, (Mr. Lee,) where I found
his son laboring under a most alarming attack of
Cynanche Tracnealis (Croup) and apparently be
yond the aid of remedy. By the greatest good for
tune, however, 1 had in my pocket ;t broken box of
your pills—four of which I administere l, with
such immediate happy effect that in a few minutes
tny patient was at ease, and out of danger. This
case,in connection with my name is at yo’Jr ser
vice—and 1 have the pleasure lo be able to inform
you that your inestimable medicine is in such great
favor with the faculty here, that I believe there is
not one of them who does not use it in his private
practice. \ ours most resp’y.

the complaints, which it speedily overcomes, were
beyond the reach of human remedy as for upwards
of a lhousiii.il y< ars. they had baffled the wisdom
and ingenuity of the most profound physicians in
all pans of the world. This Cordial, however, to
the great advantage of the human race, soon proved
itself to be the desideratum so long sought for; and
accordingly, notwithstanding tl e brie) peri dot its

it Is eagerly inquired (or throughout the civilized

“Le Cordial l>e Lucine,” or, in English, “ the ■
Lucira < ordial,” isa general inugurator of the '
human frame! In all the various cases o( languor,
lassitude, and debilitation ; it is an unlading reme
dy ; as it ia equally its province to impart cheerful
ness and decision to the mind, ns health and vigor
to the body But the peculiar virtue on which its
celebrity is based, is thefacilnyand certainty with
which it restores the virile powers when they have
hem destroyed hy disease, time, recklessness or any
of the numerous causes which terminate in the
prostration of those functions.
In common with the generality of really good
medicines, thist ordial contains nothing of a nierj
curia! or deleterious nature, among the many ingre
dients which compose it; hut is, at the same time,
so simple, yet so efficacious, that while it can reno
vate the prostrated energies of a giant, an infant
may use it,not only with impunity, but with ad
vantage.
The usages of society are unfortunately such,
that, notwithstanding the benefits which would he
sure to result from it, we cannot enter into an analy
sis of this ine-timable Cordial here, or publish many
of thedocunienis which have been received, as
vouchers of the blessings it has conferred on num
bers us despairing individuals. But it is wc cannot
forbear remarking—that it has been demonstrated
that there is scarcely ever, if any such thing at all,
as natural barrenness, or as natural imbecility of
the procream lunciions,in either sex ; and therefore,
that these evils are the effects of artificial causes,
and may be speedily subdued «nd removed by the
use ol '* Le • "ordial ile Lucine.”
The Lucina Cordial is also an indubitable cure
for the (••eel. and the Fluor Mbits, obstructed, diffi
cult, or painful Menstruation; also, for the incon
tinenc. of Urine,or the involuntary discharge there
of It is likewise an invaluable and unrivalled
medicine incases of Chronic Eruptions of theskin,
and in the dropsical ass, chops of the aged.

its surprising virtue I had a patient recently,
I M , a gentleman oi fortune, who had lor
several years abandoned himself in the vortex oi

length by the utter prostration of ali his virile ener

of debility and l isteiessness. for, if an occasional
flash of excitement warmed his system, the reac
tion was almost inimi dime, and the result perfect
prostration. I had appli.d all the usual nostrums
in such cares; but, as 1 had anticipated, without
