Ju subscriber, about the 22d November
last, either in Augusta, or on the Georgia Railroad
between that city and Warren ton, a small wallet
Pocket Book, containing bank bills to the amount
of $327. No particular mark remembered about
the pocket book or any of the bills, except one,
which'was a five dollar bill on the Brunswick Bank,
pavahl’e at the principal bank, the right hand end
of which,together with the President’s name, was
entirely torn off The above reward will be given
for information which may lead to the recovery of
the pocket book and its contents

WOOD WANTED.
PROPOSALS will he received by the command
ing officer of the Augusta Arsenal, until the
23d day of December, 1839, for supplying the Gar
rison with 116 cords of good, sound Gak Wood, of
an upland growth. The coni to measure 128 cubic
feet, and to consist of straight, round sticks, cut
in lengths of 4 feet, and to lie not less than three
inches in diameter, nor to exceed six. Sticks of a
larger size than six inches if reduced to proper di
mensions by- splitting, will be admissible; nut no
cord shall be composed of more than one ha f split
wood. Sixty cords of this woo 1 must be defived
in the month of January 184(l,and the balance as
required, and the whole must be corded and meas
ured on the yard, at the expense of the contractor.

SUMMERTILLE ACADEMY.
FINHE Board of Trustees of the Academy of
1 Richmond county will proceed, on Saturday,
the 14th of December next, to elect a Teacher for
the Branch at Summerville; previous to which
time applicants for the appointment will please
send in their names, together with their recom
mendations, to the undersigned.
The village of Summerville is situated upon the
I Sand Hills, three miles from Augusta, and is un
surpassed for health by any other locality in the
country. There are upon the premises attached
to the Academy a comfortable dwelling, sufficient
for the accommodation of the Teacher and a few
boarders, a never failing well of pure water, and
all necessary outbuildings.
The compensation of the Teacher will he the
whole of the tuition money; the rate of which per
quarter he will be at liberty to tix, and'the use
of the Academy, dwelling and other buildings.
The object of the Trustees is to make the school
a permanent one; and considering (he many advan
tages of tile situation, they feel every confidence
that it may be made profitable under the manage
ment of a well qualified instructor. "
