This Medicine, I warrrnt hy this publication,un
der a penalty of $5,000, not to contain one parti
cle of corrosive preparation. It is purely vegata
ble in its essences. Its first and prominent virtue
is to subdue every vestige of inflamation, and then
acts mildly and copiously is a diuretic ; thereby
holding within itself, every requisite virtue, for
the suhduction of this loathsome malady—and ev
ery regular graduate in medicine, will sustain the
assertion, that copious diuresis and reduction of in
flation, are the only two things necessary to effect
a sound and radical cure.
| The most peculiar virtue of the “Cinq Jours,”
j is in this, that wherever it alone has been used to
affect a cure, none of those tenacious and disagree -
! able consequences which almost invariably results
! from the sudden cure of Gonorrhoea, have been
, known to obtain such as stricture, hernia, humor
) alis, incontinence, and a swarm of other of the
j most loathsome, perplexing, and disagreeable dis
; eases, consequent upon erroneous diagnosis and
treatment of Gonorrhoea.
Those affected arc requested to call and try for
themselves. If the prescriptions are well follow

DR. MILES' COMPOUND EXTRACT OF
TOMATO—a substitute for Calomel, and
docs not belong to the family of quack medicines;
lor the reason that the component parts are made
known to the faculty, or any one else that may
wish to know, by any of the agents keeping them

iously looked for, some oac in almost the cxtrei. i
I Noith lias advertised a Tomato Pill, purportin' tr
he made from the stalk, a thing not more ausutu
than for one to oiler meal from the corn stalk, to
say nothing of the difficulty of raising the Tomato
so far North.
Dr. Miles, of Cincinnati, is the proprietor of the
Tomato Pills (proper) for the great benefits of
which, ho holds himself hound, and in honor pledg
i ed to prove hy their use, that they arc all that they
| profess to he, and will do for othcis what they
j have done for such as mav have used them ; as
! this is a vegetable of great use, ami value, it will
{ doubtless he valuable information to families to
know that the Yellow are just doubly as valuable
as the Red Tomato, and produces twice as much
of the hapiitine, or active principle, and when used
as a daily vegetable wilt lie found to keep the
system in much better condition than the other
kind ; many will recollect with what trembling
anxiety calomel has been given to children, ami
how they then wished for a substitute. It has
1 long been known that the Tomato contained ca
thartic principles, but not until of late was it
ascertained that they contained alterative ami diu
retic properties. The Faculty embrace and use
the preparation most cheerfully, for the reason that
they know what it is Were it a patent mystery,
they would he bound to reject the medicine, as they
justly do the otic thousand and one cure-alls of tin

Ca ,March 3d, 183 S:
Dr. Peters —Dear Sir,' —liy request of youragent, !
Mr. Harrison, 1 send you a few lines respecting the I
almostmiraculousellectsof your pil's; and I would
add, that you may make use ol them, in connection
with my name, in any manner you deem proper, I
speak of their meiits from experience,as 1 and my
family have taken upwards of thirty boxes in three !
years ; and so great are the benefits we haverecciv- I
ed from them in general, that 1 would rather pur- j
chase them at ten dollars a box than have rny house .
without them. I will nut enumerate the aillictiuns !
they have relieved us of; but I can assure you they
were many, and of very opposite natures, which
has fully proved to me that your medicine is a sim
ple purilier of the system, and therefore equally
the enemy of every disease. 1 wi.l mention one
ease. 1 have a sister who had been for a long pe
riod sc crely afflicted with dropsy in the chest and
was brought by it to the very verge of the grate.
She was attended hy the most eminent physicians
that money could procure; but all their efforts to
restore her to health, or even to mitigate hersulier
ings were fruitless ; and accordingly, we all consid
ered her immediate death as inevitable, ry good
fortune, however, as she was in this situation, ex
pect ng every day to he her last, your pills were
introduced into my family, and so speedy and pal
pable were their effects tiiat three doses visibly re
lieved her, and in less than three months she was
perfectly restored to health. I bis case, I ami all i
who were witness of it, (but more especially the j
suffering party,) considered to be the next thing to i
miraculous; and yet I could mentiun many more |
of an equally desperate nature, in .which
were equa ly successful in rescuing the patients j
from the jaws of death Need I add that the pupu- j
larity of your medicine amounts to enthusiasm in !
this section of the country ? Hut this 1 presume j
you know from the immense quantity you dispose 1
of ! may mention, however, that notwithstanding
its general use, 1 never heard an Individual complain
of its effects. My residence is 12 miles from i a
cigh, on the road to Fayetteville. I am, with sen
timents of regard, your ob’t servant.
A. G. BANKS,
To Dr. Peters, —Sir —For upward" of fifteen
months, 1 have been c.ueJy afflicted with Fever'
and Ague; and during the time could lind nothing—
though I had applied to every thing that gave me
any thing like permanent relief. At length, how
ever, your pills were recommended to me, by one
of our best phj sicinns, and 1 am most grateful and
happy in being able to add, that 1 had scarcely used
two boxes when I found that they had restored me
to perfect health. Since then, various members of
my family have used them with equal success— j
and consequently 1 feel it my duty to apprise you
of the fact, and to request of you to publish this
certificate, as 1 am anxious to add my public testi
mony to the almost miraculous virtues of your un
rivalled medicine Respectfully yours,
THEODORE JAMES.

Dr. J. P. Peters —My Dear Sir—On the night of

house of a fellow ci.izen, (Mr. Lee,) wherel found
his son laboring under a most alarming attack of
Cynaiuhe Tracncalis (Cronp) and apparently be
yond the aid of remedy. Hy the greatest good for
tune, however, 1 had in my pocket a broken box of,
your pills—four of which 1 administere I, with
such immediate happy effect that in a lew minutes
my patient was at ease, and out of danger. This
case,in connection with my name is at your ser

you that your inestimable medicine is in such great

not one of them who docs not use it in his private
