Groceries. —The stock on hind is rather light, except particular descriptions, which are quite in demand, and command fair prices. Sugars. —X. Orleans, ol the new crop, is abun dant, as also low qualities generally. Coffee The stock ii light, and a good article in considerable demand. flour, country.— This article is scarce,and com mands readily $6 50 to $7 oO per bbl. Bacon. —arrives freely from the country, and sales arc readily effected from wagons at 8$ to 9 els. hog round. Molasses. —The market with this article is well supplied. We note the sale of a boat load fiom the wharf at 34 cts. Domestic liqums.— Supply large, and sales dull. Osgood Pierce, as Princi pal in the Literary, and Professor D. W. Chase, in the Musical Department, to be aided by three com petent Female Assistant Teachers. No Teaclieis need sustain higher reputation in their various departments than Professors pierce and Chase have done, in t:.c cummunitixs where thef have taught, and particularly in Madison, Morgan county, where they have been engaged during the last two or three years. In procuring the services of these distinguished 1 teachers, the trustees have had a special regard to J the growing importance of tin; village in which their institution is located; and wish to afford the utmost possible inducement for the settlement among us of all such parents as hold in high esti mation the education of their daughters a- well as cons, and wish to superintend the interests of both, while pursuing their course of education. Instruction will be given in every branch of science and literature which is taught in'any sim ilar institution in the southern States. Sellable apparatus for illustrations in Philosophy, Astrono my, Chemistry, Ike., with all the necessary chem ical substances, for experiments, will he furnished ree of any extra expense to the pupil. Strict regulations will he enjoined upon ail the young ladies of the Seminary, in respect lo their giving and receiving visits, and attending parlies of pleasure. They will also be required to avoid contracting any debts without an express order from their parents, or those under whose care they ma be placed. All parents and guardians patronizing this insti tution, are earnestly requested to furnish their daughters or wards with plain and substantial clothing, as all extravagance in dress will be dis countenanced by thcteacheis and trustees.
