COTTON ADVANCED 1-8 a l-4d.
Charleston, Dec. 11.
The steamer Niagara has arrived at Halifax
with later advices from Europe.
The Cotton market at Liverpool was anima
ted and the moderate imports and reduced stock
in the market had caused an eagerness to
buy. The demand was large and prices for
Ordinary and Middling had advanced id, and
the better qualities id. The sales of the week
amount to 59,000 bales, 2300 for exportation
and 17,000 to Speculators. The quotations are
for Fair Orleans s|, Mid’g. sid, Fair Mobile sj,
Mid’g. 4id. The stock at Liverpool has been re-,
duced to 394,000 baits against 488,000 at the
same time last year.
There was a fair demand for Flour, Southern
being worth 18s. 6d. to 19s. 6d. Wheat was in
good demand. Corn, dull. Sugar, more ani
mated, with steady prices; Havana, 17s. Coffee,
improving. Rice, East India, advanced 6d.,
Carolina nominal. Money was more abundant.
American Stocks dull and unchanged. Consols
closed at 98 J.
The excitement in France, between the Pres
ident and Assembly, still continues, ar.d the
popularity of the President is increasing.

.Cotton.—The sales to-day 3000 bales at i a }
advance. The sales of the week reach
9,700 bales, Middling Fair to Fair 8* to Bf. The
receipts reach 16,055 bales. Stock on hand ex
clusive of that on ship board, 21,000 bales.
New York, Dec. 11, P. M.
Cotton.—The market is unchanged. Sales
2000 bales. Rosin—sales at 1.20.
Virginia Elections.
Thirty two counties have been heard from
and the Democratic gain over Cas’s vote is
four thousand.
Acquittal of Hanaway.
Castner Hanaway has beer, acquitted. The
Judge charged the Jury that in his case there
was no treason!
Further per Niagara.
Havre, Nov. 29.—Cotton declined four francs
—sales 4,700 j bales. Fair Orleans 72 a 86;
Mobile ditto; Upland 85c.
Liverpoot Market.—Head’s Circular says
that the quantity of Cotton on sale, is not in ex
cess of the demands, and prices tending upward.
The week’s advance is fully one-eighth. Several
cargoes of New Orleans met with ready sale.—
Naval stores have improved.

COTTON.—There has been a fair demand to-day, ami
the sales were to a fair extent at yesterday’s priees. The
Niagara's advices are just at baud, and will no doubt
have a favorable influence on our market.
SAIANNAH. Dec. 10.— Cotton. —Tnore was quite an
active demand for Cotton yesterday, which resulted in
the sale of 2,420 bales, —the largest operations in a
single day this season. Prices were very firm, and de
cidedly in favor of though we notice no quota
ble change. The following comprise the sales: 39 at 7
