This new steam boat is in fact one» of light draft. Cheap Light. Messrs. S. S. Jones & Co., are now offering, at their extensive house and furnishing depot, choice Burning Fluid, at the extremely low price of sixty cents per gallon—cheap enough. See advertisement. Also, see advertisement of S. C. Mrsnx. [communicated.] Mmlamc Young. Mr. Editor :—Through the columns of your paper. I would like to express to the public my opinion of the skill ami ability of this extraordinary lady. That she possesses the power of retrospecting the lives of persons, and predicting their future destinies, I have no moi o doubt, thau that she herself exists, or! that a God exists. The reason for speaking so positive ly and unequivocally upon the subject is, that when I went to see her, it was more to gratify an idle curiosity in j amusing myself with her superstitious notions of such things, than any confi dence 1 previously felt in the existence of any such powers in any being what ever. So, in order to this, I told her I had no confidence in any such thing, hut I would hear what she had to say any how, thereby testing her skill ; and 1 told her if she failed I would pay her so much, but if she succeeded in telling me completely my past history, I would compensate her more liberally. To my astonishment, in taking up my past his tory, she commenced with the first events of my life, and traced every act and incident of it, witli as much precis ion as a historian could have done, who had previously been placed in possess ion of all the facts. She not only told me of the many events of my life, but told me aleo of the peculiarity and character of my dis position, which 1 knew to be strictly true to the very letter. She also told me of my future destiny, hut of this, of course, I cannot speak so confi dently, but the inference in my mind is, if she has this extraordinary. power in one respect, she has it in the other.— ‘ Prophetic time the mystery wili ex plain.” She is certainly one of Nature’s pro digies, unostentatious and very mod est in her deportment, and a lady of J fine common sense. As it is doubtless a gift from Heaven, for some important purpose to mankind, it is my candid opinion she de;ervesthe patronage of a generous public. AmATOR N ATrKA Augusta. Ga.. March 2. From Parlo Rico. By the schooner William L. Richard son, from Mayaguez, P K., arrived at New York, we have advices to the 7th instant. The market was overstocked with pro visions of all descriptions. Co6pers’ stuffe a drug, four large cargoes remain ing without sale. Seven hundred and fifty tierces cod-fish, being a portion of the cargoes of three vessels from Hali fax, arrived on the :50th ult, sold on the Ist instant at $2.50 a 3.26 per quin tal. Seven hundred and forty-one bar rels Spanish flour sold on the 4th at $11.75. Coffee held at $9 per quintal, with hut limited demand. About 500 hhds. sugars had changed hands, at pri ces ranging from $3 to $3.78 per 100 lbs., and for molasses current rates, sl2 per 110 gallons. There were 26 vessels In port, and this being the mark by which planters judge of the demand for their produce, with the news of the rise in sugars i:i England up to the 17th’ ultimo, no donbt prices will be- much higher. No quotations for exchange; nunc to he had. A man was cured of hydrophobia, in Italy, lately, by swallowing vinegar in ' mistake for a medicinal portion. A physician at Padua heard of this, and i tried the remedy on a patient. He gave 1 him a pint of vinegar in the morning. 1 another at noon, and a third at sunset, , which cured him. vYe give this as one i of our exchages gives it to us. ■ —»• — 5 lie Fall of Delhi has been dramatised ! as u “horse piece” at Chicago.
