The Logan Club celebrated tbeir first anniversary last night by a spirited per formance of one of Shakspeaee’s plays — Othello, the Moore. The piece was well cast, and played in a manner high-i ly creditable to an Aiyafceur Company. In tlie Farce, Tom Kemble showed bis old familiar face, as Gregory ThimbleoxUA in the Tailor of Tamu'orth, and the piece went off in a creditable style. We learn that it is the intention ■ the Loo ass to play frequently the summer, provided they meet encouragement. From what we of the young men composing it, earnestly hope their efforts toamus people will be appreciated. M c be pardoned for advising them not undertake Sii akspeak’s plays yet They will succeed much better in wotk, for which* they have a amount es dramatic talent. Rain. B After two days of the most oppressi\B weather —the thermometer, some oil the time standing at about 90 °—wil were visited yesterday afternoon with refreshing shower. The atmospheicJ to-day is clear, and a cool breeze is stirl ring. S.—As we go to press, it is begin -i ning to rain, with prospects of a shower.- Tennessee Feathers—Mineral I>i*- j covcrles. ! Wc noticed the other day at the store of one of our hugest dealers in Tonncsj see produce, some “mineral specimens'’ about the size of a large piece of clialk j -and weighing several pounds each.- Taking some interest in the develop ment of all the resources of our favored region, we commenced a series of inqui ries, hoping to find occasion to chroni cle the opening of a new copper vein, or goldmine. V- e pushed our investiga tions until we learned that the rocks were disQOverd in ft package of “live geese feathers,” and that each sack in a large ;„t .-ont lined similar specimens of the mineral resources of that enterprising State Whether our mercantile friend has sold any stock in the Tennessee Geese Further and Mining Company we have not hoard. •-«*•<— [communicated.] Closing- of-the Dancing Season. The Utica papers describe the scene presented immediately after the disas ter on the Central truly de plorable. The Observer mys of the circumstances under which the disaster occurred : Each train was on its proper track, and going at full speed, as usual. The engines of the trains passed ouch other safely. By some accident, however, to the track, the bridge, or the car trucks, the baggage car of the down train was thrown off the track, and into collision icith the freight ear,s,of the a/. train ! The baggage car scraped against the freight cars, until one side of it was torn compb telv off. '"it it succeeded in png jug the bridge. Tin- first pasw-ngei oar, immediately following, also clemvd the bridge, but was thrown off its tracks bv the concussion, anil laid flat across the track. The second car, which had not cleared the bridge, was thrown by the concussion oil the track, and went headlong into the stream, striking it: forward end directly against (lie eastern stone abutment of the bridge, w ith tin full momentum accompanying a speedot 40 miles an hour! The forward part pi die car was shattered into splinters, and presented the appearance of having suf ferd from an explosion of gunpowder.-- The third car followed the second and ran directly on top of it, striking the abutment the same way, and meeting a similar fate. The fourth car also ran off, and its fonv ml end pitched into the -■reek. The cars lie broken aid piled upon oile another as high ns the tide graphic wires, presenting a scene such as the oldest railroad men declare they have never witnessed before, the bridge is down and. impassable. MORSE'S INVIGORATING COL- 1 DIAL.—The dyspeptic patient, whose stomach has lost the power of duly Converting food into a life-sustaining element, is relieved by a single course of this extraordinary tonic. The gastric fluid re acquires its solvent power, and the crude “j nutriment, which was a load and a burthen to the sufferer, while bis digestive organization was *- paralyzed and unstrung, becomes, under the t wholesome revolution created iu the system, the basis of activity, strength and health. ( Tiio nervous sufferer, while tormented by the v acute, phy.-'ieai agony of Xeura'-gia. T Females who have tried it arc unanimous in 1 declaring the Elixir to be the greatest boon thn\ woman has ever received from the hards oi medical men. Morse’s Invigorating Elixir has a direct, in- • mediate and astonishing effect upon the appetite. While it renews the strength of the digestive powers it creates a desire for the solid material which is to be subjected to their action. As an c appetiser it has no equal in the I’harmacopia. If long life and the vigor necessary to its en joyment are desirable, this medicine is indeed ol preciou- worth j Its bcneik’ial effects are not confined to either sex or to any age. The feeble girl, the ailing * ; wife, the listless, enervated youth, the ©forworn man of business, the victim of nervous depre-- j jsion, the individual suffering from general de j bility or from the weakness of a single organ willall find imraediateaud permanent rel: f from j ithc u-c of this incomparableTen-ivator.
