Os course, there i could have been no ' influence of mind operating to produce such a result. The communications received were such as to [ prove unmistakably the fact of spirit] [intercourse. j On a subsequent day, I visited another, ; medium, who is a lady, and made my [entrance in the same manner, a perfect: > stanger and without any introduction, j 1 She is what is called a rapping and wri ting medium—using the alphabet and writing down the letters signified by tiiree raps, as they were successively called over from A to Z. In this way 1 obtained a communica tion of some length from my parents, !also the following decisive test : First, I felt the pressure of a handj • upon my knee, as distinctly as it was! | possible for such a pressure to be felt —: this was unexpected, and not under-, ’stood until it was written out, that it' was Mended to give me a mu of Spirit Form. I then called for the- names of' my mother and sister which were, iui- j j mediately rapped out, correctly. I then '.called for my own name in full, and! I the medium wentthrougli the Alphabet! twice without her getting any audible .response At this she expressed tor-' prise, when I stated that perhaps I had ■ received the raps on my knee, having ’ felt something like the pressure of a ' j linger three times on my knee, while t : the medium was calling out the Alpha bet. Sle then proceeded, and I was 'enabled by the raps on my knee to de jsignate the letter intended. But Ij I could not get the name I expected, to j wit: tail, but my third name, Wilson, I i was spelled out. It then occurred to me that this was the name by which' inv mother always called me, from ray j youth to manhood. I never knew her to call me Lewis. My fiist name was l then called for and given, when I asked I for the second. At tnis there was some) : hesitation, when 1 requested my moth | er to ask my Father to recollect the! j name of his friend after whom I was 'called, at the Baptismal font, when the! Word Mtau was spelled out. i then re marked that there was no letter want ing in the name as I was taught to spell ] lit. when the letter x was immediately j added, completing the name by which | ■my father used to call me, in my boy- ■ ■ hood—Feltaux being short for Feuillc jteau, which iathe real name. ! 1 subsequently received a communi cation from a brother, quite asconciu 'sive to my mind, from the nature of! the details, that I had been blessed (with the privilege of Spiritual com i Imunioo, face to face, though invisible| to my mortal sight, with my departed i I relatives and friends. And this, too,l 'without any hallucination or excite- j ment whatever, and without any chancel lof deception, because it was absolutely j impossible for the medium to have known anything in reference to my rei jatives, who lived hundreds of miles ■ distant from \’cw York, and who left 1 the earth from 10 to 2b years ago! i The following is a specimen of the j communications purporting to come from the Spirit of my Father : 1 • You ask for a test that you may ;know that we are present. What can |we give? I know of nothing that I tain say, further, tb.au that l am here with yon, not the old man I once was, but a youthful happy, progressive i spirit." ‘‘You shall see positive evidence ®f spiritual intercourse between the two worlds. You will hav» manifestations it home, and you will rejoice to know acre of the life beyond your life r eur mother laagers ueai you and you nns: not neglect her. You should speak to her. [This was done and the manifestations immediately became ter - ieriy affe-NWu»fcu and joyfuld I have put my hand on year knee ~o bless you with the sense of spirit jform. lam very happy, and we are all limited in one sphere and family. J , | have much to say to you when yoii get i j along a little further. I live in all the ; different spheres, audit is my delight to manifest to von in this way. You I must not neglect to get a few points if ■ this Philosophy which 1 find lean give j you here—to wit: that echoes are made 'independent of the medium, and that j we (tile spirits) have forms correspond ing to the natural form. Think on yout spirit friends when sot rows assail you, and know that we are ever ready to give von our forces to sustain you when all else shall fail you. Then you shall draw nearer to the home of your ancestors in heaven, where he weary rest evermore. Your Father, John Akueews. have not space to give further de r the mani/eelatirms obtained, but e such as were amply tujjiaent uy rcasoti and convince mv ‘ their truth and deep signif-i 'ngeriog scepticism was! he winds, and I was: y to acknowledge myi n the new and mysteri-j / designated Spiritualism. I aim home, I found that the ■ ole to me, prior to my depar- j vpw York, that my progress " would be reported to the! ** by an attendant ininistcr '/»« strictly complied with, j "Sr three spirit telegraphic! >n> home, and my friends,: ere kept informed of my end con>lition, during iny s same mysterious mode ’ion 1 All this I verily its reality I am fully am free so to declare, t by so doing, I sub-! charge of self-delu on of mental de-J rangemont, on tin part of those whose bigotry and ignorance over-ride their knowledge and charity. None of these things, however, move me. I bmc that i my perceptive and reasoning faculties! have not been impaired by these inves- j tigations, hut on the contrary, they | have been quickened and invigorated : to a mere comprehension of spiritual things. Moreover, my experience has i been benificent, serene and joyful, and I I have no doubt, such is the legitimate effect of tlic reception of the same de- j gree of spiritual truth, in every candid : and honest mind. Still 1 have no dis position to obtrude these opinions ar.d, views upon others. 1 would have every one "persuaded in his otvu mind.”—l Even what I have here recorded is to be considered as given in deference to the wishes of friends rather than in a pro selyting spirit.
