Tri-Wf.i-.kly Recorder.~We see by the last Ricoribr that the editor.-. Lave concluded to publish a Tri weekly pa per during tlie session, and have secnr ed the services as Reporters of Rev. A. E. Marshall for the Senate, and Maj. F. S. Miller for the House. Josefii Sumerav. —Has just opened a New Confectionary two doors above S. S. Jones &Co’s., where he intends keeping constantly onliand a large and - fresh assortment of all articles in the Confectionary line of his own Manufac ture and of Foreign importation. Fresh cakes constantly on band, and wedding cakes made to order. His store is neat ly fitted up, and as it is in a central sit uation, our citizens wishing anything in his line, will find it convenient to send to this establishment. Girardev’s Restaurant. —Epicures and others by a reference to advertise ments, will see that this well kept Re staurant, under Concert Hall, is now in full blast. Its public spirited proprietor lias secured the serv ices of a first class French cook, and is prepared to furnish private or public parties, at short no tice. with set dinners aud suppers. lie will keep constantly on hand, during the season, New York, Norfolk and Sa vannah Oysters, Fulton market Reef, dame of ail descriptions. This is a well kept Restaurant— everything about it is neat aud clean, and served up in good stylf > Wm E. Sikes.—This gentleman has opened a Family Grocery near tlie Low er Market, and v. ill keep constantly on hand a. general assortment of articles in his line of the very best quality, which lie offers for sale low for cash. I. P. Giuabdey— I This gentleman has removed from LaFayette Hall, to his old stand on Broad street, opposite the the Bridge Bank Buildings, where he is prepared to furnish every article in the Confectionery line, of the best quality, and atrfhort notice. His reputation as a confctioner is too well known to need notice from us, suffice it to say he does most of his manufacturing at home, and his candies, ornamental cakes tic., are hard to surpass. He has also fitted lip a fine Bar, with the best of liquors,. a | Billiard Saloon, and in a few days, will be prepared to furnish oysters and other luxuries of the season. Tnos. Whyte—Agent for the manu- j facturers, offers for sale the best quali ty of Champaign Cider. We tested it this morning—it was good. Coal, Coal.—Cold weather is fast ap proaching, and those wishing to lay in a supply of good coal, would do well to give our old friend, G. S. Hookey, a call. He has a good supply on hand. Rat ii ! Rain :: Oh, for a good rain to lay the dust, which for the past month has been al most insupportable. It has been over four weeks since we have had a sufficient fall to lay the dust. For the last two days there has been every appearance of a good shower, hut up to the present writing we have been favored with only a slight sprinkle, sufficient to bring down the floating dust to its level, but not keep it down. There is a fair pros pect yet, for a heavy rain. The river is very low, A duel came off at Schenectady recent ly between two exquisites. They fought with lucifer matches, on the tow-path. One of the parties was slight ly killed, and the other mortally fright ened. — A Scotchman who put up at an inn, was asked in the morning how he had slept. “Troth, man,” replied Donald, “nae very well neither, but I was muck le better ass than the bugs, for deil an ane o’ them closed' an e’e the hale night.” Many believe that by the reading of highly wrought works of fiction, the heart may be softened till it is hard ened, as there are metals which acquire j a greaser induration the oftencr they are melted. —- - ■■ Gen. The digestion of some of tlie ministerial brethren must be in an excellent condition, judging from tho display of their eating powers. — The fare is so good, that it is almost impossible to quit after you once begin.
