Richmond Superior Court.
The Superior Court of Richmond
County adjourned on yesterday, after a
session of five weeks, in which a very
large amount of business was dispatch
ed, though thedockets were notcleared
-
Theatre.
The performance last night was the
most successful one of the season. AVe
are forced to omit a more general no
tice. Tonight is the last appearance of
Mr. Neafie, and the last of the company
for the present.
Dangerous Counterfeit.
AVhenwelnade our allibion to the
counterfeit SSO notes on the Georgia
Railroad bank on yesterday we had not
compared the counterfeit critically with
the genuine.. AVe find, on close com
parison that the signatures appear to
the unaided eye, so much like the
genuine as to defy detection; but a mag
nifying glass shows them to be engraved.
The centre vignette is scratchy and in
distinct, and the face of AVa.-binuto.v is
blurred’and expressionless. The like
ness*)? Mrs. AVasuixoton is the most
ntfceable imperfection about the bill,
avid is so unlike tbat on the genuine
till, as to mark the counterfeit as soon as
attention is called to it. The whole en
graving of the bill is inferior to the
genuine, but bears a closer resemblance
to it than is usual in counterfeits.
Xon 11- Men's Christian Association,
The monthly meeting of this Associa
tion will beheld at their beautiful hall,
on Monday night next at seven o'clock.
P. M. AVe hope that every member of
this Association—active—associate and
honorary, will bo present. The winter
will soon be upon us, and it is time that
the members of this Association should
prepare for the winter campaign. The
Libi ary andr ending room connected with
the Association is excellent—many val
uable works are upon the shelves, and
papers are on file from all parts of the
Uniou. It is free to the public, and we
believe, is the only fret library in the
State, and wo should be pleased to see
our citizens, avail themselves of this
privilege more extensively. Although
the Library lias received many volumes
from the hands of our citizens, yet
there is ample room for extension and
improvement. AVe believe that each
member of Congress has the privilege
of granting to one Library in his Con
gressional District,*all works issued un
der the direction of Government. We
wouid respectfully call the attention of
the Representatives from this District to
the claims of this Association, and hope
that he will grant them all the Books
in his power.
Child Burned.
A little boy. about five years old, son
of George Wjsigle, of this city, was
playing with liicifer matches day before
yesterday, when his clothes caught fire
and he was so seriously injured from
burns, and inhaling the fumes of the
burning matches, as to render his re
