There is more vim about the Augusta merchants than it is usual to find in cities of much larger size, and that is one reason why the trade of the place is bound to increase. We need scarcely call attention to the adveitsiement of Messrs. Hickman, Hills & Cress. It speaks for itself. Notice. We would call attention to Srears & Height's advertisement, of a superior Lubricating Grease for all kinds of heavy machinery, water wheels, wag gons, carts, omnibuses, Sic., in another column. Y. 91. C. A. Monday, Dec. 6tli, 1858. Mr Editor :It is to be hoped that the members of the Y. M. C. A. of Augusta, will heed the counsel given them in a short paragraph in your Di*patch of Sat urday. This evening the last Regular Monthly Meeting of the Association for this year will be held, and it is to be hoped that the members will crowd their pleasant Rooms, for, not only is their coming Anniversary to be consid ered, but important communications • from abroad are to be read, and their suggestions and invitations acted upon, gome of the Associate Members have, all the year, been laboring under a mis take in regard to their rights and priv iledges in the Association. Section 3rd of Article 2nd of the Constitution plainly defines these: “Any man of good mo ral character may become an Associate member, and be entitled to all the priv ileges of the Association—eligibility to office only excepted—by paying one dollar initiation fees and five cents weekly dues.” They can offer reso lutions, be heard in debate and vote upon all questions before the Associa tion, vote for the election of new mem bers and for officers. Life and Honora ry Members may offer resolutions and be heard in debate upon all questions before the Association. Active mem bers at all times, desire the advice and co-operation of their brethren, —the As sociate, Honorary and Life members. — Surely they can all work sweetly to gether to carry out the object of the Association—“improvement of the spir itual, mental and social condition of young men.” The Regular Monthly Meetings and the Weekly prayer meet ing are free for all, the stranger as well as the citizens, all are cordially invited to participate in their benefits. March 5. 1558. 1 ‘ Doctor Ayer, Lowell : 1 feel it a doty and a : 1 pleasure to inform you what your Cherry Pec-\ { Ureal has done for my wife. She had been five 1 months laboring under the dangerous symptoms ! of Consumption, from which no aid we could 1 procure gave her much relief. She was steadily ; 1 failing, until Dr. Strong, of this city, where we 1 have come for advice, recommended a trial of Jf your medicine. We bless his kiudneSF, as we !’• do your skill, for she has recovered from that : day. .she is not yet as strong as she used to be, j < but is tree from' her cough, and calls herself' j well. It is made by : one of the best m riical chemists in the world, I and its cures all around us bespeak the high I merits of its virtues. —Philadelphia Ledger. ; ~ AYER’S CATHARTIC PILLS. The sciences of Chemistry and Medicine have . I been taxed their utmost to produce this best, l most perfect purgative which is known to man. j “ Innumerable proofs :.re shown that these Pills j" have virtues which surpass in excellence the or- i dinary medicines, and that they win unprcce- : dentedly upon the esteem of all men. They are !. safe and pleasant to take, but powerful to cure. ! Their penetrating properties stimulate the vital { activities ol the body, remove the obstructions j o f its organs, purify the blood, and expel disease, j -• They purge out the foul humors which breed ! and grow distemper, stimulate sluggish or dis- { - ordered organs into their natural action, and im- . part healthy tone with strength to the whole j system. Not only do they cure the every day i complaints of every body, but also formidable ' and dangerous diseases that have baffled the best j of human skill. While they produce powerful j effects, they are at the same time, in dim''Dished j doses, the safest and best physic that can beem- j ployed for children. Beit:/ sugar-coated, they I - j are pleasant to take ; and being purely vegeta- ; I | ble, are free from any risk of harm. Cures have ! | been made which surpass belief, were they not j substantiated by men of such exalted position j and character as to forbid the suspicion of un- ' ~ {truth. Many eminent clergymen and physicians ' have lent their names to certify to the public - the reliability of my remedies, while others have c sent me the assurance of their conviction that 3 | my Preparations contribute immensely to the a relief of iny afflicted, suffering fellow men.
