Indictments Against Swan & Co. Wc understand that indictments were presented to the Grand Jury of the City Court, this week, by the Attorney Gen eral, charging that Swan & Co. were drawing a lottery in this city under a \ charter which has expired. The jury, j after a prolonged examination, during j two days, returned on the indictment; j "no bill." — Constitutionalift, 18 tit. We have the most reliable and un-1 doubted authority for asserting that the \ " anxious man” wiio gave our neighbor j the above information, blundered most signally. In the first place, there were, no indictments presented to the Grand j Jury of the City court: in the second j place, there was no such position assum-' ed as that Swan & Co. were drawing a lottery under a ciiarter which had expi- j red. In the third place, the Jury was not engaged on the matter two days; and in the fourth place, there was noi such return made as "no hll." There | was a fecial presentment before the Grand Jury, occupying their attention during a portion of a morning, and which fail ed to he returned to the Court. Editorial Visit. Our clever friend, Col. Cooper, Editor of the Cnallanooija Advertiser and Collector; of that Port, called on us this morning, i His friends are assured that he shall he I taken care of daring his stay in our city. \ Episcopal Fair. We learn that the proceeds of the Fair of the Church of the Atonement, held last week, amounted to about S7OO. Public Laws of Georgia. We have received acopy of this work, compiled and published by H. H. Wa tees, Esq., containing the important bills of the late session of the Legisla ture, and a list of the counties in the | State in which the Superior and Inferior] Courts have been changed, and giving the time of holding said courts. The work is invaluable to attorneys and pub- j lie officers, and Mr. Waters is entitled to their thanks for the dispatch with which he has issued it. Price SI. For sale by H. D. Every person who has seen ray crop prenounce it the’ heaviest boiled cotton they ever saw. One planter pulled off a limb, twelve inches long, having nine bolls on it. As this Cotton does not limb as long as Petit Gulf, it can be planted closer in the row and drill, thus securing a greater number of stalks to the acre.
