In this preparation we have all the restorative prop erties of the loot, concentrated in their utmost strength and efficacy ; but while Sarsaparilla Root forms an important part of its combination, it is, at the same time, compounded with other vegetable remedies of great power, and it is in the peculiar combination and smentific manner of its preyaraiioa that its remarkable . success in the enre of disease depends. It acts simulta- : neously upon the stomach, the circulation and the bowels ; and thus three processes, which are ordi narily the result of three different kinds of med- j ieine, are carried on at the same time, through 1 iho instr umentality of this one remedial agent ! which gently stimulates while its disinfects and ex- j pels from the stomach and bowels all that is irrita ting, and at the same time restores their vigor and tone. Its great merit is, that it meets and neutralizes the ac tive principle of disease itself, arid when that is gone the symptoms necessarily disappear; and we have only to point to the accumulated testimony of multitudes who have experienced its efleets, to convince increduli ty itself of its real value. The proprietors submit to the public the following certificate from a highly respectable source of a cure made by using their preparation of Sarsaparilla : Chatham, Mass., July 28, 1850. Messrs. A. B. & D. Sands: Gentlemen—So Truly valuable do 1 consider your Sarsaparilla that I feel it to be my duty to state tor the benefit of others, the cure effected on myself Previ ous to 1845,1 had a disease of the throat, which des troyed the tonsils, and was then attacked with violenr pain in the head. This soon resulted in severe inflamt mation, and immense quantities of blood and rr.atte were discharged. For six weeks the disease continued in the head, and then pervaded the body generally, at tacking all the limbs. I was confined to a sick bed, from which 1 never expected to arise. Many physi cians attended me, and the most skilful pronounced me past cure. In short, tongue cannot express my suffer ings ; and in this condition I heard of your Sarsaparilla, purchased six bottles, and renounced all other remedies. I did not expect to take all I bought, so debilitated had my system become. Contrary to all expectation, my health almost immediately began to improve. I was able to attend to my domestic duties, and soon could walk out, a tiling I once thought would be impossible. My gratitude I cannot express, feeling satisfied that notli *ng else could have relieved me of the misery and suf fering I then endured. I most cheerfully recommend Sands’ traroaparilla to all suffering as 1 have done. Respectfully, yours, REBECCA MAYO. Knowing the above statement to be strictly correct and being near neighbors to Mrs. Mayo, we cheerfully testify to the same. WARREN RODGERS, JOHN HALLET, PRISCILLA L. DODGE, REBECCA SMITH. Another Remarkable Cure. New-Yoke, Jail. 8, 1850. . j Messrs. Sands: ! Gentlemen—l have great pleasure in acknowledging to you the great benefit I have received from the use of your Sarsaparilla. A subject of pulmonary disease I made a voyage to Europe, but while there continued to be-arffictad. A lev/ weeks after my return, I was seized wiih a violent hemorrhage of the lungs, and from the debility and great prostration of strength that followed, with the protracted difficulty of respiration, I am on- Drely relieved by the use oi your Sarsaparilla, which \ i consider a moat important and truly valuable diacoveiy j 1) “he healina art. A lovely young lady cured of Consumption KT Tll following is from the pen of Win. H. Levi sun, Est|., the distinguished editor of the U. S. Military and Naval Argus, under date New York, January 16', j I*so. What could be more conclusive 1 et lt iB seldom we permit ourselves to occupy a space in these columns to speak in praise of any article in the i patent medicine way ; but when we see the life of a fellow-creature saved by the use ol’any medicine what ever, wecorsider it as our right, if notour duty, to give a simple statement of lacts, that others may, in like manner, be benefitted. The case which has induced us to pen this arlicie was that of a young lady of our acqaintauce, who by frequent exposure to the night air, contracted a Cold which settled on the Lungs before its ravages could be stayed. (This occurred two years ago this winter) Various remedies were used, but with tery little eliector benefit. The Cough grew worse, w ith copious expectoration, and the sunken eye, and p.ile, hollow cheek, told plainly that pulmonarvdisease was doing its worst on her delicate frame. Thefamiiy phytician was consulted, arid although he would noi ; admit to the young lady that she really had the consump tion, yet he would give no encouragement as to a cure At this crisis her mother was persuaded to make use oi a boulc ot Ur. Itogers’Compound Svrup of Liverwort ami Tar, and we are happy to state she was perfectly ■ c 2 red 1,1 , than three months by this medicine alone, after even nope was destroyed. It is useless to com ment on such a case as this, for the simple irutli will , reach where polished fiction never can. CHER’RYPECTORAL • For the rapid Cure of COUGHS, COJiDS, HOARSENESS, BRONCHITIS, WHOOPING-COUGH, , CROUP, ASTHMA, AND \ CONSUMPTION. Many years of trial, instead of impairing the public con fidence in this medicine, has won ior it an appreciation and notoriety by tar exceeding the most sanguine expeetation of its friends. Nothing out its intrinsic virtues and the un- 1 mistakable benefit conferred on thousands of sufferers could originate and maintain the reputation it enjoys. While many inferior remedies thrust upon the community have { failed-and been discarded, this has gained friends U * wry trial, conferred benefits on the afflicted they c m never'for (Jet, and produced cures too numerous and too remarkab!-- to he forgotten. While it is a fraud on the public to pretend that any one medicine Will infallibly cure—still there is abundant proof that the Cherry Pectpral does not only as a general thine, but almost invariably cure the maladies for which it is em, ployed. As time makes these facts wider and better ku \vn, this medicine has gradually become the best reliance of the af flicted, from the log-cabin of the American Peasant, to the palaces of European Kings, Throughout this entire coun try, in every State, city, and indeed almost every hamlet it contains, Cherry Pectoral is known as the best remedy ex tant for diseases of the Throat ancf Lungs, and in many foreign countries, it is coming to be extensively used by their most intelligent Physicians. In Great Britain, France and Germany, where the medical sciences have reached their highest perfection, Cherry Pectoral is introduced, and m constant use in the Annies, Hospitals, Alms Houses Public Institutions, and in domestic piactice, as the surest reinedy their attending Physicians can employ for the more dan gerous affections of the lungs. Also in milder eases, and for children it is safe, pleasant and effectual to cure. In fact, some of the most ffaltering testimonials we receive have been from parents who have found it efficacious in cases particularly incidental to childhood. The Cherry Pectoral is manufactured by a practical Chemist, and every ounce of it under his own eye, with in variable accuracy and care. It is sealed and protected bv law from counterfeits, consequently can be relied on as gen uine without adulteration. We have endeavored here to furnish the community with a medicine of such intrinsic superiority and worth as should commend itself to their confidence—a remedy at once speedy and effectual, which this has by repeated and count less trials proved itself to be: and trust by great care in pre paring it with chemical accuracy, of uniform strength to afford Physicians anew agent on which they can rely for the best results, and the afflicted with a remedy that will do lor them all that medicine can do. PROSPECTUS OF THE CORNER STONE. WE intend to publish in the city of Columbus, Ga., a paper under the title of “THb CO NER STONE.” Wo shall not attempt to foreshadow our future course, by saying that we shall adhere to and advocate the “great principles” of this or that ‘‘great party,” for the reason that we know no party, to whose principles, as exemplified in practice, we can thus commit ourselves. With some difference of creeds and professions, the two great National parties agree in one leading object, which i? to do whatever may be necessary to increase the amount ot party spoils, which are gathered mainly from the South anti distributed almost entirely at the North. Wo do not belong to either of them. Believing the General Government to be corrupt in all its part.',—holding that it belongs to, and is and will be admin istered for the benefit of the North alone—that it is an en gine, by which, the power and resources of the South are wielded to her injury—that in all respects and under ail circumstances, the political connection between the two sections is productive of evil to the South, we shall advo cate its dissolution. As to State politics, if there be any party which has an , we are ignorant of it. So entirely is every tiling absorbed, in the effort to sustain a national organization, that the dis cussion of principles and measure, involving the lights and interests of the people, is often deprecated and avoided,. le>t the party may be thereby injured ; as if the invasion oi the l ights of a citizen, by State legislation were not as iatal and as much to be guarded against, as the exercise of an undele gated power by Congress. In what we shall choose to consider and treat as State, politics, we shall find much to discuss—for there is much, that is wrong somewhere. Wo boxiHt that. w iiuvn tlws best GoYnnrmfrtr Twt*. and that we live in the full blaze of the light of christianifjr yet we have daily, the complaint, that over all the lan j crime and degradation, and misery are increasing, _ with ap palling rapidity. Such are not the legitimate fruits of a pure Christianity or of a good and wise government. We shall consider all things connected with the rights and interest ol the people, proper subjects for discussion : our object will be to aim at the truth ; and when in our opinion, we shall have found it, we shall present it to our reader? as it presents itself to us.
