A lovely young lady cured of Consumption
(CT Too following is from the. pen of Win. H. Lcvi

and Naval Argus, under date New York, January 1G ;
1850. What could be more conclusive !
“It is seldom we permit ourselves to occupy a space
in these columns to speak in praise of any article in the
patent medicine way ; but when we sre the life of a
fellow-creature saved by the use of any medicine what
ever, we co aider it as our right, il not our duly, to give
a simple statement of kacts, that others may, in like
manner, be benefitted. Theca.se which has induced
us to pea this article was that of a young lady of our
acqaintance, who by frequent exposure to the night air,
contracted a Cold which settled n the Lungs before
its ravages could be stayed. (This occurred two Years
ago this winter) Various remedies were used, but with
very little effect or benefit. The Cougli grew worse,
with copious expectoration, and the sunken eye, and
pale, hull i’.v cheek, told plainly that pulmonary disease
was doing its worst on her delicate frame. The family
physician was consulted, and although ho would not
admit to the young lady that she really had the consump
tion, yet lie would give no encouragement as lo a cure
At tliis crisis her mother was persuaded to make use ot
a bottle ot Dr. Rogers’Compound Syrup of Liverwort
and Tar, and we are happy lo state she was perfectly
cured in less than three months by this medicine alone,
after even hope was destioyed. itis useless to com
ment on such a case as this, for the simple irtitii will
reach where polished fiction never can. If any doubt
the authenticity of this statement, let them call at this

made by using their preparation of Sarsaparilla :
Chatham, Mass., July 28, 1850.
Messrs. A. B. &. D. Sapps:
_ Gentlemen—So truly valuable do 1 consider your
Sarsaparilla that 1 feel it to he my duty to state for the
benefit of others, the cure effected on’ myself. Previ
ous to 1815,1 had a disease of flic throat’, which des
troyed lhe tonsils, and was then attacked with violenr
pain in the head. This soon resulted in severe iuflamt
motion, and immense Quantities of blood and matte
were discharged. For six weeks the disease continued
in the head, and then pervaded the body generally, at
tacking all tiie limbs. I was confined’to a sick bed,
trom which 1 never expected to arise. Many physi
cians attended me, and the most skilful pronounced me
past care. In short, tongue cannot express my suffer
ings ; and in this condition I heard of your Sarsaparilla,
purchased six bottles, and renounced all other remedies.’
1 dal not expect to take all I bought, so debilitated had
my system become. Contrary to all expectation, my
hcnmi almost immediately began to improve. 1 was
able to attend to my domestic duties, and soon could
<wt. a thing 1 once thought would lie impossible.
Mv gratitude I cannot express, feelingsatferied that noth
ing else could have relieved me of the ntiserv and suf
writvg I then endured. 1 most cheerfully recommend
bands’ Sarsaparilla lo all suffering as 1 have done.
Respectfully, yours,
REBECCA MAYO.

foreign countries, it is coming to be extensively used by their
most intelligent Physicians, in Great Britain, France and
