Avery’s Sewing Machines.
Price Only $25 !!
Patented October 10, 1852.
THIS machine is acknowledged, by all who have used it, to be
superior to that of any other Sewing Machine ever invent
ed, for its simplicity, compactness, the beauty and strength of its
stitch and its cheapness. It weighs about 25 lbs., and costs only
from $25 to S3B. It will work, neatly with the smallest thread,
the finest muslin, cambric or silk, as well as linen, woolen and
cotton goods, and all kinds of leather. It is so simple, that a
child of 10 years of age can understand and work it rapidly, with
out any danger of its getting out of order, ami can do the w ork
of more than 20 sc unstresses much better in every respect than
it can be done by hand. The stitches are independent of each
other—so much so, that if every other stitch is cut, the seam still
holds good and strong. It ft unlike and much better than any
other sewing machine ever invented. This machine is peculiar
ly adapted to family and plantation use, as it docs all kinds of
sewing, and when known will be generally introduced into fami
lies and plantations.
The Avery Sewing Machine Company have perfected their ar
rangements for manufacturing on the largest scale, and will sup
ply any number of machines at the shortest notice. Orders ad
dressed to CHARLES NETTLETON, 251 Broadway, New York,
will receive prompt attention.

CHERRYPECTORAL
For the rapid Cure of
COUGHS, COLDS, HOARSENESS,
BRONCHITIS, WHOOPING-COUGH,
CROUP, ASTHMA, AND
CONSUMPTION.
Many years of trial, instead of impairing the public con
fidence in this medicine, has won for it an appreciation and
notoriety by liir exceeding the mod sanguine expectation
ot its friends. Nothing but its intrinsic virtues and the un
mistakable benefit conferred on thousands of sufferers could
origmate and maintain tiie reputation it enjoys. While
ma iy inferior remedies thrust upon the community have
lai ed and been discarded, this lias gained friends by every
tri tl, conferred benefits on the afflicted they can never for
get, and produced cures too numerous and too remarkable
to be forgotten.
While it is a fraud on the public to pretend that any one
medicine will infallibly cure—still there is abundant proof
that the Cherry Pectoral does not only as a general thing,
but almost invariably cure the maladies for which it is em,
ployed.
A- time makes the e facts wider and better known, this
medicine bus gradually become the best reliance of the af
flicted, fro n the log-cabin of the American Peasant, to the
palaces of European Kings, Throughout this entire coun
try, in every State, city, and indeed almost every hamlet it
contains, Cherry Pectoral is known as the best remedy ex
tant for diseases of the Throat and Lungs, and in many
foreign countries, it is coming to be extensively used by their
most intelligent Physicians. In Great Britain, France and
Germany, where the medical sciences have reached their
highest Deflection, Cherry Pectoral is introduced, and in!
constanf use in the Armies, Hospitals, Alms Houses, 3 ublio
Institutions, and in domestic practice, as the surest remedy
their attendins: Physicians can employ for the more dan
gerous aflections of the lungs. Also in milder cases, and i
for children it is safe, pleasant and effectual to cure. In
fact, sonite of the most flattering testimonials we receive,
have been from parents who have found it efficacious in
cases particularly incidental to childhood.
The Cherry j ’ectoral is manufactured by a practical
Chemist, and every ounce of it under his own eye, with in- i
variable accuracy and care. It is sealed and protected by j
law from counterfeits, consequently can be relied on as gen- ‘
uine without adulteration.
We have endeavored here to furnish the community with ’
a medicine of such intrinsic superiority and worth as should ‘
commend itself to their confidence—a remedy at once sale,
speedy and effectual, which this-has by repeated and count
less trials proved itself to be: antitrust by great care in pre
paring it with chemical accuracy, of uniform strength to
atlbrd Physicians anew agent on which they can rely for 1
the Inst results, and the alHicted with a remedy that wiil do .
for them all that medicine can do.

ROGER S’ LIVERWORT AND TAR
For the Complete cure of Coughs, Colds , Influenza ,

Lung Complaints tending to CONSUMPTION; j
THE GREAT COUGH REMEDY!
Reader ! have you a Cough, which you are neglecting, ■
under the idea that it is only a common cold, and that it
wiil soon “wear itself out V’ Le t a wend tell you, in all
kindness, what will sc >n he the probable result.
In a short time, if you continue to neglect yourself,;
you] will begin to feel a sense of twin ness and oppression ‘
across the chest, accompanied with frequent sharp dart- j
ing 6 pains. Then a dry, itacking Cough will sot in, and!
when you raise anything it wiii he a thiek and yellowish, 1
or vihite frothy matter, streaked, perhaps, with blood. If
you still take no medicine, these uupkjisant symptoms will ;
men use, and you wll soon line J lectio Fever, Cold ;
( hills, Night Sweats, ('..pious Expeeloruon, & then Great
1 Prostration. If you still neglect yours, f*. a few weeks or
mo iths will see you consigned to the grave, leaving your ,
i friends to mourn how rapidly Consumption* did its work I
and hurried you away. . Friend ! have you no cause lo be 1
alarmed ? in the above sketch you may see as in a glass
how every case of Consumption progresses, with more or
less rapidity, to a fatal termination. Os all the Thousands
arid Millions whom this great Destroyer lias gathered to
the tomb, every single case began with a Cold. It this had
been attended to, all might have been well; but being neg- j
Feted, under the fatal delusion that it would ’’wear itself j
offy’ it transferred its deadly action to the substance of the ;
Lungs, exciting there the formation of tubercles. An-!
oilier, and another cold added fuel to the flame, until these
tubercles began to soften and suppurate, leaving, by their ‘
j ulceration, great cavities in the Lungs. At this crisis, j
i the disease is very difficult of cure, and oftentimes sets at 1
defiance all human means.
In the latter or worst stage, this medicine will often
times arrest the disease, or check its progress, and will!
always make the patient more comfortable, and prolong his :
life, and is therefore worthy of a trial ; —but in its incip- {
ent or forming periods Consumption is as curable as any ‘
other disease, and “1 )r. Rogers’ Syrup of Liverwort, Tar
and Canchalagua,” if taken at this time, will cure it at
surely as if is taken ! This is strung language, but we
can r. fer you to numberless living witnesses to prove that
it is True! And therefore, we earnestly exhort every j
man, woman and child, who has a Cough, or is subject to i
Colds, to keep this medicine by you in the house ; and !
whenever you take Cold, do not ‘‘let it alone” to work i
mischief in your system, hut eradicate it thoroughly, and
at once, by this powerfully healing compound, and leave
your Lungs uninjured, to carry you in lull vigor to a good 1
; old age 1
M o tilers!
Have you delicate, weakly children, who are always;
taking cold, and subject to Croup? Remember ! There j
; never was a case of Croup, which did not originate in a
; Cold ! And when your childs goeto bed wheezing and i
coughing, y >u know not that, before morning, Croup may !
: not set in, and ere you can get a Physician, your dear!
child may 1:2 beyond the reach of help* We beseech you, j
therefore, as you value the lives of vour children, keeps i
this medicine by you in the house, and wheuyour little one I
, take cold •nd commence coughing, give it to them at !
, once, and rest not until the cough is entirely subdued. We
conscfocnfiously aver, after the most extended experience, !
that if this advice were followed, no child need’ever
j Die of Croup.
: For the cold would be cured, before it could arrive at this
; aggravated and fatal stage. Let every Mother, especially, j
heed well these remarks, that she may not hereafter, when j
; mourning over the early blight of some cherished blossom, j
have occasion bitterly to reproach herself for her criminal
neglect. It is an old adage, that ‘‘to be fore warned, jsto j
■he forearmed. 1 Parents ! so let it be in vour case.
I Ue sure to ask for Dr. A. Rogers’ Svrup of Liverwort,

Mexican Mustang Liniment.
THIS invaluable preparation has been but a few months
before the people of the South, yet many thousands of
bottles have been sold and used in a great variety op
diseases, and it has g*ven universal satisfiict on. Wo
have hoard of none that Were dissatisfied with it. Wo
offer it as a remedy in the various diseases and com
plaints for wluch it is recommended, with full confidence
iu curing them, as over four millions of Battles have been
soM and used fir a great variety of complaints, both of
men and animals, and it has always given satisfaction, be
cause it has performed just what we said it would. It has
healed Cancers and scrofulous sores and ulcers that had
resisted the treatment of the Medical Faculty.
gW* A child i*i Frederick ton, N. !>., a few days ago
burned its legs severely against a stove. The mother im
mediately applied Linseed Oil and Cotton Wool, with a
tight bandage over all; iu a short time the scre:.r* <f the
child induced the mother to remove- the bandage, when it
was discovered that the cotton wool had taken fire by spon
taneous combustion and had considerably inemtsed the
size of the burn. The mother happened to think that she
had part of a bottle of Mustang Liniment in her house,
which she got immediately and applied to the burned
limbs of the little sufferer, and ;is sn as it was applied,
the child eeast-d its cries and soon after fi ll asleep in its
mother’s arms, by the soothing influence f this valuable
preparation.
This is to certify that the Mexican Mustang Liniment
has-been used quite extensively in the stables of Adams A
Co.’s Great {Southern, Eastern and Western Express, fi>r
curing Galls, Chafes, Scratches, Sprains ami llruis s.and
it has proved very effectual. Many of their m n have
also usetl it on themselves and their families, and they all
speak of its healing and rented a! qualities in the highest
terms. One of our hostlers got kicked, aud Uidlycut and
bruised on his knee—.s usual, the Mustang liniment was
resorted to, and the soreness and i.uneness was soon re
moved, and it was pei.ectly well in three or four days.—
We have no hesitation in recommending it as a valuable
preparation, to be used externally on man or beast.
Rheumatism.—This is to certify that my wife was af
flicted with severe chronic Rheumatism : she had suffered
tor months with the most excruciating pains ; she had
tried Rheumatic Compounds, Reliefs and almost every
thing recommended for this dreadful disease. None of
them relieved her pains in the least. She used a fifty cent
bottle of Mustang Liniment, and it cum! her entirely; she
is how perfectly well, and recommends all of her friends
to use the Mustang Liniment.
