Os ail the numerous medicines extant, (and some of them val

beenfound which could compare in its effects with this prepara
tion. Others cure sometimes, but at ail times and in all diseases
of the lungs and throat where medicine can give relief, this will
doit. It is pleasant to take, and perfectly safe in accordance
with the directions. We do not advertise for the information
of these who have tried it but those who have not. Families
that have known its value will not be without it, and by its time
ly use, they are secure from the dangerous consequences of

Read the following opinion founded on the long experience of
the eminent Physician of the port and city of
St. Johns, May 8, 1851.
Dr. J. C. Ayer: Five year’s trial of your Cherry Pectoral in my
practice, has proven what I foresaw frm its composition, must
be true, that it eradicates and cures the colds and coughs to
which we, in this section, are peculiarly liable.
I think its equal has not yet been discovered, nor do I know
how a better remedy can be made for the distempers of the
throat and lungs. J. J. Burton, M. I)., F. R. S.
See what it has done on a wasted constitution, not only in the

Sudbury, Jan. 24th, 1851.
Dr. Ayer : In the month of July last I was attacked by a violent
diarrhoea in the mmes of California. I returned to -van Francis
co in hope of receiving benefit from a change of climate and diet.
My diarrhiea ceased, but was followed by a severe cough—and
much soreness. I finally started for home, but received no bene
fit from the voyage. My cough continued to grow worse, ard
when I arrived in New York, I was at once marked by my ac
quaintances as a victim of consumption. 1 must confess that I
saw no sufficient reason to doubt what my friends all believed.
At this time I commenced taking your truly invaluable medicine
with little expectation of deriving any benefit from its use. You
would not receive these lines did I no; regard it my duty to state
to the ai/Jicted. through you, that my health, in the space of eight

to directions.
Dr. Minge, a practising physician, and formerly of the City

were most truly surprising. He says in a case of consumption
dependent on the liver, the good effects were wonderful iudeed.
Samuel M. Drinker, of the firm of Drinker & Morris, Rich

use of two bottles of Carter’s Spanish Mixture.

HOLLOWAY'S OINTMENT.
A MOST MIRACULOUS CURE OF BAD LEGS.
AFTER 43 YEARS’ SUFFERING.
Extract of a letter from Mr. William Galpin, of 70 St.
Mary's street, Weymouth , dated loth May, 1851.
To Professor Holloway ;
Sir: Attheagi of eighteen my wife (who is now r sixty one)
caught a violent cold, which settled in her legs, and ever since that
time they have been more or less sore, and greatly inflamed.
Her agonies were distracting, and lor months together she was
deprived entirely of rest and Bleep. Every remedy that medical
men advised was tried, but without effect ; her health suffered
severely, and the state of her legs was terrible. I had often read
your advertisements, and advised her to try your Pills and < >int
inent; and,as a last resource, after every other remedy had prov
ed useless, she consented to do so. She commenced six weeks
ago, and strange to relate, is now in good health. Her legs are
painless, without seam or scar, and her sleep sound and undis
turbed. Could you have witnessed the sufferings of my wife
during the last forty three years, and contrast them with her pre
sent enjoyment of health, you would indeed feel delighted in
having been the means of so greatly alleviating the sufferings of
a fellow creature. (Signed) VVh. Galpin.

LEG, OF THIRTY YEARS STANDING.
Copy of a letter from Mr. William Abbs, Builder of Gas

31 st, 1851.
To Professor Holloway :
Sir : 1 suffered for a period of thirty years from a bad leg, the
reguit of two or three different accidents at Gas Works ; accom
panied by scorbutic systems. I had recourse to a variety of
medical advice, without deriving any benefit, and was even told
that the leg must be amputated, yet, in opposition to that opinion,
your Pills and Ointment have effected a complete cure in so short
a time, that tew who had not witnessed it would credit the fact.
(Signed) William Abbs.
The truth of this statement can be verified by Mr VV. P. Eng

A DREADFUL BAD BREAST CURED IN ONE

Extract of a letter from Mr. Frederick Turner, of Fen

To Professor Holloway :
Dear Sir: My wiie had suffered from Bad Breasts for more than
six mouths, and during the whole period had the best mc|c!i
attendance, but all to no use. Having before healed an awful
wound in my own leg by your unrivalled medicine, I determined
again to use your Pills and Ointment, and therefore gave them a
trial in her case, and fortunate it w si did so, for in less than a
month a perfect cure was effected, and the benefit that various
other branches of my family havederived from the r use is really
astonishing. 1 now strongly recommend them to all iny friends.

Stabier’s Anodyne Cherry Expectorant and Stabler’s Diarrhma
Cordial are medicines of great value and very efficient for the
relief and cure of the diseases /or w hich they are recommended;
they bear the evidence of skill and care in their preparation and
style of putting up, and we take pleasure in recommending
them.”
Twenty seven of the most respectable merchants, residents of
Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina, who have sold and also
used these medicines themselves, say. “ From our own experi
ence and that of our customers, we do confidently recommend
them Pro Bono Publico. We have never known any remedies
used for the diseases lor which they are prescribed, to be so effi
cient and to give such entire satisfaction to ail.”
The above notices of recommendation from members of the
Medical Faculty, Pharmaceutists of high standing, and merchants
of the first respectability, should be sufficient to satisfy all, that
hese medicines are worthy oftrial by the afflicted, and that they
are of a different stamp and class from the “Quackery” and “cure
ails” so much imposed upon the public.

Mexican Mustang Liniment.
THIS invaluable preparation has been but a few months
before the people of the South, yet many thousands of
bottles have been sold and used in a great variety of
diseases, and it lias given universal satisfaction. We
h ve heard of none that were dissatisfied with it. We
offer it as a remedy in the various diseases and com
plaints for which it is recommended, with full confidence
in curing them, as over four millions of Bottles have been
sold and used for a great variety of complaints, both ol
men and animals, and it has always given satisfaction, be
cause it has performed just what we said it would. It has
healed Cancers and scrofulous sores and ulcers that had I
resisted the treatment of the Medical Faculty.
J9T A child in Frederick ton, N. 8., a few days ago
burned its legs severely against a stove. The mother im
mediately applied Linseed Oil and Cotton Wool, with a
tight bandage over all; in a short time the screams of the
child induced the mother to remove the bandage, when it
was discovered that the cotton wool had taken fire by spon
taneous combustion and had considerably increased the
size of the burn. The mother happened to think that she
had part of a bottle of Mustang Liniment in her house,
which she got immediately and applied to the burned
limbs of the little sufferer, and as soon as it was applied,
the child ceased its cries and soon after fell asleep in its
mother's arms, by the soothing influence of th.s valuable
preparation.
This is to certify that the Mexican Mustang Liniment
has been used quite extensively in the stables of Adams <fc
Co.’s Great Southern, Eastern and Western Express, for
curing Galls, Chafes, Scratches, Sprains ami Bruits.and
it has proved very effectual. Many of their men have
also used it on themselves and their families, and they all
speak of its healing and remedial qualities in the highest
terms. One of our hostlers got kicked, and badly cut and
bruised on his knee—as usual, the Musung Liniment was
resorted to, aud the soreness and lameness was soon re
moved, and it was perfectly well in three or four days.—
We have no hesitation in recommending it as a valuable
preparation, to be used externally on man or beast.

Rheumatism.—This is to certify that my wife was af
flicted with severe chronic Rheumatism ; she had suffered
for months with the most excruciating pains ; she had
tried Rheumatic Compounds, Reliefs and almost every
thing recommended tor this dreadful disease. None of
them relieved her pains in the least. She used a fifty cent
bottle of Mustang Liniment, and it cured her entirely; she
is now perfectly well, aud recommends all of her friends
to use the Mustang Liniment.

DK. ROGERS’ LIVERWORT AND TAR
For the complete cure of Coughs, Colds, Injhunza,
Asthma , Bronchitis , Spitting of Blood, and all other
Lung Complaints tending to CONSUMPTION;
TIIE GREAT COUGH REMEDY!
Reader ! have you a Gough, which you are neglecting,
under the idea that it is only a common cold, and that it
will soon “wear itself out?” Let a friend tell you, in all
kindness, what will soon be the probable result.
In a short time, if you continue to neglect yourself,
you will begin to feel a sense of tightness and oppression
across the chest, accompanied with frequent sharp dart
ing pains. Then a dry, hacking Cough will set in, and
when you raise anything it will be a thick and yellowish,
lor white frothy matter, streaked, perhaps, with blood. Il
you still Like no inedi : ne, these unpleasant symptoms will
increase, and you wl! soon have Hectic Fever, Gold
Chills, Night Sweats, Copious Expectorant), & then Great
j Prostration. If you still neglect yourself, a few weeks or
| months will see you consigned to the grave, leaving your
j friends to mourn how rapidly Consumption did its work
and hurried you away. Friend ! have you no cause to be
| alarmed ? In the above sketch you may see as in a glass
j how every case of Consumption progresses, with more or
less rapidity, to a fatal termination. Os all the Thousands
and Millions whom this great Destroyer has gathered to
the tomb, every single case began with a Cold. If this had
been attended to, all might have been well; but being neg
lected, under the fatal delusion that it would “wear itself
oft’,” it transferred its deadly action to thesubstance of the
Lungs, exciting there the formation of tubercles. An
other, and another cold added fuel to the flame, until these
tubercles began to soften and suppurate, leaving, by their
ulceration, great cavities in the Lungs. At this crisis,
the disease is very difficult of cure, and oftentimes sets at
defiance all human means.
In the latter or worst stage, this medicine will often
times arrest the disease, or check its progress, and will
always make the patient more comfortable, and prolong his
life, and is therefore worthy of a trial ; —but in its iucip
ent or forming periods Consumption is as curable as any
other disease, and “Dr. Rogerjy Syrup of Liverwort, Tar
and Canchaiagua,” if taken at this time, will cure it at
surely as it is taken I This is strong language, but we
can refer you to numberless living witnesses to prove that
it is True! And therefore, we earnestly exhort every
man, woman and child, who has a Cough, or is subject to
Colds, to keep this medicine by you in the house ; and
whenever you take Cold, do not “let it alone” to work j
mischief in your system, but eradicate it thoroughly, and |
at once, by this powerfully healing compound, and leave j
your Lungs uninjured, to carry you in lull vigor to a good
old age !

this medicine by you in the house, arid whenyour little one
