cause at the same lime that it cures the disease.
The valuable medicines above named have recently been in
trod ucec . with the approval ol a number of the medical profes
sion in the city of Baltimore and elsewhere, and in practice have
succeeded most admirably in curing the and senses for which they
are prescribed. They are offered to the country Practitioner, as
medicines which he can in all respects depend upon, unprepared
in agreement with the experience of some of the most learned
and judicious physicians, and strictly in conformity w ith the
rules of Pharmacy, mid as especially serving his conven
ience, who cannot so readily as the city physician havehisown
prescriptions compounded by a practical Pharmaceutist.

convenient and efficient combinations ever offered to our profes

Doct. I-. D. Handy .writes, “I.have administered your Anodyne

! Doct. W. S. Love, writes to ns that he has administered the
j Expectorant to his wife, who has had the Bronchitis for fourteen
j years, and that she is fast recovering from her long standing mala

remedies she has heretofore used under able medical counsel.
Sixteen ofthe best Apothecaries and Pharmaceutists in the city
of Baltimore, write “We are satisfied the preparations known as
Slabler’s Anodyne Cherry Expectorant and Stable r’s Diarrhoea
Cordial are medicines of great value and very efficient for the
relief and cure of the diseases for v, hich they are recommended;
they bear theevidence of skill and care in their preparation and
style of putting up, and we take pleasure in recommending
them.”
Twenty seven of the most respectable merchants, residents of
Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina, w ho have sold and also
used these medicines themselves, say, “From our own experi

The above notices of recommendation from members ofthe
Medical Faculty, Pharmaceutists of high standing, and merchants
ofthe first respectability, should be sufficient to satisfy all, that

DU. GALE’S ANODYNE OF OPIUM.
It is a fact woil known that many people are accustomed to
buv and use without the advice of a physician, many of the pre
-1 parations of Opium, as Laudanum, Paregoric, Bateman’s Drops,
i Godfrey’s Cordial andfheliko.
j The. effect of these medicines is generally known, and while
j they are admitted to possess Anodyne and sedative properties
j not lo be dispensed with they are still liable to serious objections
j in many cases and doubtless are often mischievous in their ten
dency.
The new chemical preparation, now’ submitted to the public, is
believed to possess ; !l their virtues, and even more, w ihout be
ing chargeable with their bad effects—neither is this opinion
hastily founded, nor based on limited experience—after a trial
of some years in which this remedy has been placed \nthe hands
of eminent physicians, and tried indeed under every variety of
circumstance, and in all appropriate cases of disease, it is still
believed to stand unrivalled, not only for its rare medicinal vir
tues as a preparation of Opium, but ior tho safety with which it
may be administered.

Mexican Mustang Liniment.
i THIS invaluable preparation has been but a few months
; before the people of the South, yet many thousands of
bottles have been sold and used in a great variety of
diseases, and it has given universal satisfaction. We
h vo hoard of none that were dissatisfied with it. We
cfler it as a remedy in the various diseases and com
plaints for which it is recommended, with full Confidence
iu curing them, as over tour millions of Bottles have been
sold and used for a great variety of complaints, both of
men and animals, ana it has always given satisfaction, be
cause it has performed just what we said it would. It has
healed Cancers and scrofulous sores and ulcers that had
resisted the treatment ofthe Medical Faculty.
A child in Fredorickton, N. 8., a few days ago’
burned its legs severely against a stove. The mother im
mediately applied L'mscod < >ii and Cotton Wool, w ith a
tight bandage over all; in a short time tho screams of the
child induced the mother to remove the bandage, when it
was discovered that the cotton wool had taken lire by spon
tnneou.? combustion and had considerably increased the
size of tlie burn. The mother happened to think that she
had part of a buttle of Mustang Liniment iu ..her bouse,
which she got immediately and applied to the burned
limbs ofthe iit’.fo sufferer, and as soon as it was applied,
the child ceased its cries ami soon after fell asleep in its
mother's arms, by the soothing influence of tn s valuable
preparation.
This is to certify that the Mexican Mustang Liniment
has been used quite extensively in the stables of Adams <fc
Co.’s Great Southern, Rastern and Western Express, for
curing Galls, Chafes, Scratches, Sprains aud Braikos, and
it has proved -very effee ual. Many of their men have
also used it on themselves and du-ir families, and they all
speak of its healing aud remedial qualities in the highest
terms- One of our hitlers got kicked, and badly cut and
bruised a his knee-- ..a usual, the Mustang Liniment was
resorted to, and the soreness and lameness was soon re
moved, and it was perfectly well in three or four days.—
We have no hesitation in recommending it as a valuable
preparation, to be used external!v on man or beast.

Healing External Wounds.
Bounded by no geographical lines, the reputation of Barry’s
Tricopherous pervades the Union. The sales of the arti
cle of late years have ii:c vr.nd in a ratio that almost exceeds
belief. Professor Barry, after a careful examination of his sales’
book, finds that the number of bottles delivered to order, iu
quantities of from’ half gross upward, during the year 1852,
was within a trifle of 950,00 ft.
It is unnecessary to present at length the evidence of the won
dorfui properties of the Tricopherous, when the public have fur
nishe 1 Mich an endorsement us this. The cheapness of the article
and the explanations given of its chemical action upon the hair,
the scalp, and in all cases of superficial irritation, first recom
mended it to the attention of the people. This was all that the
itiveutor desired. Every bottle advertised itsell. The effects ol
the fluid exceeded expectation. It acted like a charm. The
ladies would not be without it. Country dealears in every sec
tion of the United States found they must have it; and thus
was built up a wholesale trade of an extent hitherto unheard ol
as regards articles of this kind. The highest point has not yet
been reached, and it is believed the sales this year will he a

such means to merit and receive a liberal share of public patronage.
Physicians and Merchant dealers doing business in the country, will find it greatly to their in

and well selected articles, they offer inducements in prices, which they are confident will prove
pt rfectly satisfactory.
In their extensive arrangements for the proper advancement ofthe business, they have not been
unmindful of what would be to the interest and convenience of the City Physicians but in view of
their accommodation and for Iheir especial benefit, have fitted up and neatly arranged a room
with all necessary apparatus attached—to be devoted exclusively to Chemical and Pharmaceutical
operations. In this effort of theirs to relieve them ofthe trouble and vexation to which thev have
been so long subjected, in preparing their own prescriptions, or in having them properly attended
to, they think they ought and believe thev> will sustain them.
Both or either of them will be present at all times (except from 10 o’clock A. M. until 2 o’clock
