An ACT to amend (S an aid to *• efiahlijh the compenfations cf ike ojjicers employed in the cel led ten of the duties cn imports and tonnage \ and fer other purpof’s.” BE it enabledby the Senate and Ihuje of Reprefentatives of the United States cf America , in Congrefs affenabled , That from and after the thirtieth day of June in the prefent year, then Xhail be paid, annually, to the collector of the cuftoms for the diftrid of Richmond, in addi tion to the fees and emoluments otherwife allowed by law, the fum of two hundred and fifty dollars. Sec. 2. And he it further enabled) That from and after the faid thirtieth day of Ju:; p , the falary heretofore allowed by law to the collector of the cuf toms for the d lit rid cf Peterf hurg be, and the fame hereby is difeontinued. An ACT to enable the people cf . the Eaftern Divificn cf the Territory North JVcf of the River Ohio, to form a confli tution and fate government , and for the admijfwi cf fuck fate into the Union , cn an equal foe ting with the original fates y and for ether purpojes. it enabled by the Senate ami Houfe cf Reprefentatives cf the United States of America , in Congrefs ajfembledy That the inhabitants of the Eaftern divi fion of the territory north weft of the river Ohio, be, and they arc hereby authorized to form for themfelves a conftitution and ftate government, and to aflame fuch name as they (hall deem proper, and the laid ftate, when formed, fhall be admitted into the union, upon the fame foot ing with the original Hates, in all refpeds whatever. Sec. 2. And he it further enabled) That the faid ftate fhall confift of all the territory in cluded within the following boundaries, to wit : bounded cn the eaft by the Pennfylvania line, on the fouth by the Ohio River, to the mouth of the great Miami River, on the well by the line drawn due north from the mouth of the great Miami, aforefaid, and on the north by an eaft and weft line, drawn through the foutherly extreme offtake Michigan, runningeaft after interjecting the due north line aforefaid, from the mouth of the great Miami, until it fhall interfect Lake Erie, or the territorial line, and thence with the fame through Lake Erie to the Pennfylvania line, aforefaid; Provided) that Congrefs fhall be ac liberty at any time here after, either to attach all the territory lying cafe cf the line to be drawn due north from the mouth cf the Miami, aforefaid, to the territorial line, and north of an tail and weft line drawn through the foutherly extreme offtake Michigan, running cart as aforefaid to Lake Erie, to the aforefaid ftate, or difpofe of 1c otherwife, in conformity to the fifth article of compadl be tween the original flates, and the people and dates to be formed in the territory north weft of the river Ohio. Sic. 3. And le it further enabled) That all that parr of the territoiy of ti e United States, north well of the River Ohio, heretofore included in the cart el n divifion of laid territory, and not included within the boundary herein preferibed for the laid ftate, is hereby attached to, and made a part of the In dian territory, from and after the formation of the faid ftate, fubjeift neve ahe left, to be here after chfpofcd of by Congrefs, accompanied to the right re fereed in the fifth article ot the ordinance aforefaid, and the in habitants therein fhall be enti tled to the fame privileges and immunities, an i fubjefl to the fame rules and regulations, in all relpcdh whatever, with all other citizens redding within •J the Indian territory. Sec. 4. And be it further enacted) That all male citizens of the United States, who fhall have arrived at full age, and re- Tided within the territory at leaft one year previous to the day cf election, and fhall have paid a territorial or county tax, and all perfons having in other refpeds, the legal qualifications to vote for reprefentatives in the general aflembly of the terri tory, be and they are hereby authorifed to choofe re prelim ta il ives to form a convention, who ihali be apportioned amongft the fcvenal counties within the eaftern divifion aforefaid, in a ratio of one leprcfentative to every twelve hundred. inhabi tants of each county, according to the enumeration taken under the authority of the United Stares, a* near as may be, that is to fay, from the county ot Trumbull, two reprefentatives; from the county ot jefferfon, feven reprefentatives, two of the feven to be defied within what is now known by the county of Belmont, taken from JcflVifon and VValdington counties; from the County of Walhington, four reprefentative 4 : from the coun ty of Kofts feven reprefentatives, two of tire feven to be elected in what is now known by can field county, taken from Rols and Walhington counties ; from the county of Adams, three reprefentatives; from the coun ty of Hamilton, twelve repre fentatives, two of the twelve to be defied in what is now known by Clermont county, taken en tirely from Hamilton county ; anu the eleftion lor the repre fctadves afotefaid, (ball take place on the fecond Tuefday of October next, the lime fixed by a law of the territory, entitled, <c an act to afeertain the number cf free male inhabitants cl the age of twenty one, In the ter* ritory of the United States north Weft of the river Ohio, and to regulate the elc&ions of representatives for the fame,** for electing reprefentatives tc9 the general affembly, and (hall be held and conducted in the fame manner as is provided by the afore fold aid, except that the qualifications of electors (hail be as herein fnccified.
