TIMELY WARNING It is generally conceded tlmt the crops are going to be comparatively light, not only in this, but in surround ing counties. It is true tliefe are sec tions where tlic crops have suffered but little, and where there is a promising yield awaiting the reaper. In many places however, and iii fact the majori ty of planters in this county will make a failure in a corn and pea crop, and to a great extent in a cotton crop. There j is some hope for cotton, especiasly where 1 it is young, and imd no largo amount of forms and young bowls to throw off when the dry weather set in, The old- j er cotton that, had grown rapidly from | heavy manuring, and had an abundance ! of fruit upon it a month ago, will very not recuperate sufficiently to in crease the yield much. To sum the whole thing up and make short meter of it, crops are far below the usual stan dard, and there is no mending the mat ter by being gloomy about it. So we 1 j Ist sav to planters, make the most ot I everything that yon have on your farms, j make all the hay you can. for in the hit ' ter part of summer there is a quantity of good grasses on a farm that is never | gathereil because cotton'-has to be look . e I after, audit takes every nich of time. 11 v all means make a winter crop. 1 "I m' turnips- prepare yoi r ground #iii, exceeding care.
