Hats! Hats!! Little & Clark have
a large stock of Straw Hats for Ladies

Bartow and Wadley will each have
a big enterprise in their lumber busi

From the minutes of the county
board, it seems some of the paupers
want to live above laws and regula

to dismiss them if they refuse to fol
low the rules.
Fishing poles, and fishing tackle ot
the best quality, and to be sold at lew
prices, at J. J Keith’s.
One of our townsmen killed a wild
turkey as he passed through the 84th
district; and now one of the citizens
of that district wants pay for his fowl.
Moral: Every turkey you see in the
woods is not wild.
It takes lets of money out of the
pockets of honest and law-abiding cit
izens to keep the courts running for
rascals, thieves, murderers and li
tigious people. See in the county
treasurer’s report what was paid out
during the past year for jury fees a
lone.
The hot weather is coming on, and
Little & Clark can supply every lady,
man and child in the land with a nice
summer hat, of any kind, quality or
color, and its understood they wish to
sell to all of you.
We made a mistake last week when
we said the entertainment at Masonic

should have been April 16th. So corns

Dr. H. L. Battle was in town Tues

Burke county is not overly anxious
to receive her criminals, fcd Smith,
not long since, was caught near this

better success than he usually has on
the first rounds.
BOOM IN RAILROADS,
Just at this time no State in the
union is building and talking of build
ing railroads like the people ot Geor
gia. And we are glad to state all thn
work is not being done on paper. A
road is now being built from Macon to
Covington. The Savannah, Dublin
and Western road is now commenced,
and will, no doubt, be completed be
fore many years. This will be a very
important line and will open up a big
scopeot country heretofore locked up
to commerce, Look at your map and
see tor yourself. The Georgia Mid
land from Columbus bids fair to be
built at an early date, which will make
1 a line road for that section of the
State. Tiie road from Augusta to
Sandersville will soon be completed,
and the former city is making a big
effort for a road from that city to
Ciiailauooga, and if reports are cor
rect it will be built. And last, but n, t
least, Atlanta comes to the front anu
says sue is determined to have a rail
load buillin tlic near future. We hope
it will be built and come right through
Louisville—which is the best route
and tne most direct.
OBITthkjXV.
Mr. R. D. Watkins died at his
home in this county on the 10th day
of April, 1886. For some lime before
his death he was subject to serious
attacks of throat trouble, and often
his recovery was despaired of. And at
last he fell a victim to the disease that
gave him so much affliction. He was
a good citizen and much respected by
all who knew him. He leaves a loving
wife and other relatives to mourn his
loss.
MASONIC TEMPLE.

One may feel that he’s getting old,

this so effectually as thin and falling
