Among those we consider worthy nt notice is the German Bitters, invented by Dr. Hoofland, and prepared by Dr. Jackson in Phila delphia One instanoo in particular, in which the superior virtues ol this medicine have been tested, has fallen under our observation. During the Iasi summer, a son of Mr. Abraham (Tsbill, of this coun ty, was very seriously afflicted with Liver Complaint and aftor trying in vnin various remedies, lie pur chased a bottle of the Bitters, and after using it, was so much relieved of his distressing malady, that he procured another bottle, and it restored him en tirely to health.” READ FURTHER A FEW FACTS. Judok M. M. Noah, a gentleman with great sci entific and literary attainments, said in his " New York Weakly Messenger/’January 8,1850. •’ Dr. Hoofland’s German Bitters.-—Here Is a preparation which tho leading presses in tiie Union appear to be unanimous in recommending, and the reason ia obvious. It is made alter a prescription furnished by one of the most colebra’ed physicians ol modern times, tho late Dr. Christopher Wilhelm Hoofland, Professor to the University of Jena, Pri vate Physician to tho King of Prussia, ami one ol the greatest medical writers Germany has overpro duced. He was emphatically tho enemy ol hum- duo,nnd therefore a medicine of which he was the inventor and endorser may-be confidently relind on. He specially recommended it in Liver Complaint, Dyspepsia, Debility. Virtigo, Acidity of the Stom ach, Constipation, and all complaints arising from a disordered condition of the stomach, the liver and the intestines. Nine Philadelphia papers express their conviction of its excellence, ond several of the odi:ors now speak of its effects from their individual experience. Under these circumstances, we feel waranted. not only in calling the attention nf our renders to the present proprietor's (Dr. C. M. Jack- son's) preparation, but in rccommondmg the article to all ofllietcd.” MORE EVIDENCE. The “Philadelphia Saturday Gazette,” the best fnntily newspaper published in the United Stales, the editor says of DR HOOFLAND’S GERMAN BITTERS. “ It is seldom that we recommend wliai are term ed Patent Medicines to the confidence nnd patron- age of our readers; and, therefore, when wo recom mend Dr. Hoofland’s German Bitters, we wish it to be distinctly understood that we are not speaking of the nostrums of tho day, that are noised about for n brief period nnd thon forgotten after they have done their guilty race ol mischief, but of a medi* cine long established, universally prized, and which hat* met the hearty approval offlb Faculty itself Evidence upon evidence has been received (like the foregoing) from all sections of tho Union, in three years’' and the strongest testimony in its lavnr is, that there is more ol it used in the practice of the regular Physicians of Philadelphia than all other nostrums combined, n fact that can easily be esta* blished, and fully proving that a scientific prepara tion will meet with iheir quiet approval when pre sented even in this form. This medicine will cure Liver Complaint and Dis- pepsia no one can doubt, after using it ns directed It nets specifically upon the stomach and liver—it is preferable to calomel in all billions diseases—the effect is immediate. HEALTH RESTORED! BOTANIC INFIRMARY. T HE increasing popularity of tho reformed Botan ic Practice of Medicine, nnd tho continued ap plication of patients for medical treatment, ns well us proscriptions and medicino to distant patients, has induced tho Propreitor to mako more extensive arrangements for the'better and more comfortable accommodation of the afflicted, whore every vurle- ty of disease will be treated upon the most scien tific physiological principles. The reformed Prac* tice is becoming to be too well known und too high ly appreciated throughout our oountry, to require uulogium or pnnegyrio in this place. It needs not the aid of deolninution to fostor, to substantiate or enhance ita value; it only claims for itself a fulr investigation and trial to be duly esteemed—and certainly it cannot be denied tlmt. If the most vi olent opposition could have had its intended effect, the system would long ugo have been annihilated. The argument in Its favor ncucmulutcs, when we contemplate this fact, and still survey the rigid examination it is every where forced to pass thro’ Like true friendship, it Ims thoioughly to be tested “has ever to undergo nnd withstand the shoot? of adversity before it is justly entitled to the n<in.o.” The Practice having outlivod the prejudices which in many instances nro too justly attached to it Irom boing in the hands of ignorant pretenders, where it was toooflen found in its infancy in this co.tntry it has been, and now is affording extruordinry re lie! to suffering thousands, while cures, in some cases almost bordering on the miraculous, are be* ing effected by Its potent influence. The uttimral* lcled success it has met in the hands of Dr. Jones, (whose course of treatment in many respects is purely original,) has gained for him celebrity, fnr surpassing his fondest expectations, nnd tliousnnds are rejoicing under the bencficinl effects of n Prac tice whoso tendency Is to heal without any ofthose disngrccable consequences which tco often follow the eradication of one diteaee by the substitution of anothet. From the many testimonials which Dr.Ims Jones received of Ills unparalleled success, ho lias thought proper to lay tho following before a reflecting com munity. The statements hero made nro not from persons who live out of the reach of enquiry, but they come from respectable citizens of our own oountry, who can bo seen nnd consulted personally, in reference to their true conditions, Dyspepsia. De. Jones—*My Dear Sir: This is to certify that I was, for some 15 or 20 years, grievously afflicted with dyspepsia or indigestion.
