Among our improvements this year, will be
found a new water box, in which the Journal
of the Bliaft is entirely surrounded hy water,
making it of course worth more, (if the wa
ter box is worth anything) than any box now
in existence, as there is no other box known
that does surround the shaft with water on
more than three sides. The advantage of this
bo over all others is so obvious that it needs
no^fttrthcr comment.
From the extraordinary efforts Juscd by

HImINERAI SPRINGS';,
A RE now open, under the management
of Col. John N Young and Lady, and
ready for the reception of yisitora. There
have been new improvements made to the
Springs— fire-places added to the Hotel, and
Cabins with fire-places, for the accommoda
tion of Jarailies. *■ The water oi these Springs
hnve been recently nnalyzed hy Professor
Means, ofOxford. So soon as he hns time to
prepare his analysis for publication, it will be
maile public. It may be stated now, howev
er, thnt they contain Iron. Magnesia nnd Sul
phur in sufficient quantities for valuable medi-
einnl purposes. They have already perform
ed some remarkable curra Judge James M
SruLLOCK. in the Spring of 1850, was severe
ly attacked with Neuralgia. Every effort the
most skillful Physicians could make was made,
to relieve him, but failed. His disease hud
the typhcii symptoms, with ulcers on the
lungs, nnd every appearance of terminating
in the consumption. Hu whs, advised to use
mineral waters, and in his feeble condition he
was taken to the Floyd Springs, where he re
mained but seven weeks and then left sound
nnd well. We refer to Judge Spui.i.ock and
Drs. Douglas & Coleman, who will corrober-
atc the above statement of facts.
Another remarkable cure was effected iu
the case of Thomas Dukb.o mechanic employ
ed to work nt the FJoyd Springs. He had
been afflicted for twenty years with an erup
tion, or breaking out, all over hi* body. He
was at work some two months, drank nnd
bathed hi, the water?, nnd left ilie Springs en
tirely and radically cured He had applied
to a tiumLer of Physicians for relief, but he
found uone from any remedy until these wa
ters restored him to health-
The Waters of the Floyd Springs have
been found highly beneficial to children in
feeble health, delicate females and dyspeptic
persons. There is other pure and cool water,
free from minerals and convenient for use.—
The mountain air is salubrious and the see' e-
ry fine. And the Springs are only twelve
miles North of Rome nnd thirteen miles South-
West of Calhoun. Pus^engm will be con
veyed (rom either place to the Springs for One
Dollar; from Rome, by Messrs. Ramey &
Ransom.
Col. Young nnd Lady will use every exer
tion to please their visitors, and will furnish
their table with the be l 8t viands the country af
