It is ordained by the Mayor and Alder, men oj the City oj Savannah, in Council as. sembled , that it shall be the duty of theSu. penntendant „ and Deputy Supcrintendant oj the Night Watch, to remain in the Watch, house alternately, from the time of sitting the Watch, until day.light, on every night during the whole year, excepting such time eiS may be necessarily employed in visiting the Palrolej, to tee that they perform, their duty properly , which absences shall at no e>n( time exceed the space of one hour; and that in case oj ref usal or negleO efthe said Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent of the Night Watch, to comply with the afore said regulation, he shall for every suck of fence,forfeit and pay a sum not exceeding one month's pay, one half thereof to be ap plied to the use of the uftrmer, and the oth er half to the use of the city.
