Notice is hereby given, that in con formity with the provjfions of the act fuppkmentnry to the afci, in titled •• An act making provilipn for the redemp tion of the whole of the public debt of the United States,” books will be open at the office efthe commissioner of loans for Georgia, on the firft day of July next, to continue open until the feven teentli day of March, 2808, :r.c!ufive ly, the fourteen last days of each quai'-S ter excepted, for the purpose of re- j ceiving fubferiptioris for Inch parts of the old fix per cent, deferred fix per cent, and three per cent, flock, as may, on the day of fubfeription, hand on the books of the Laid, commiflioncr of loans. Thofe’ proprietors of the old fix per cent, and deferred flocks, who may sub fieri be, will receive in lieu thereof anew fix per cent, flock, equal to the unredeemed amount of the flock sur rendered, redeemable at the pleasure of the United States, tinder a proviso, however, thu tno reimbursement shall be made except for the whole amount of any such new certificate of flock, nor till after fix months previous no tice : and the proprietors of the three per cent, flock who may fubferibe, will receive in lieu thereof, a fix per cent, flock, equal to fixty-five per cent, of the amount of three per cent, i'urrendered, redeemable in the fame manner as the new fix per cent, above mentioned but not reimbursable, how ever, without the assent of the holders, until after the whole of the new fix per cent, (given in exchange for old fix or deferred as above mentioned) as weil as the whole of the eight per cent, flock of the United States, shall have been rcimburfed. It is also provided, that in every reimbursement whiclv may take place, a preference will be given to those creditors ‘ ho may no tify their wish to be reimbursed ; and that if the applications to that cffe£l shall at any time either exceed or fa!! fiiort cf the sum then applicable to that purpose, the priority of payment shall, so far as may be ncceffary, be determined by lot. The present flock-holders who re side in any part of Europe, and may assent to that modification, may, at their option, ’receive the imereft ac cruing on the new llock, either in the United States as heretofore, or in Lon don or Amlkrdam, at par; in which lull case, the interefl will be paid there by the bankers of the United States, fix months subsequent to the day on which the fame would be payable in the United .States and fubjedl to no variation; nor to any other deduction than a covnmiffioner to the bankers, ot one half per cent, on the interefl thus paid, JAMES ALGER, Commit siansr of Loons, NOTE .
