Resolved, That the 15th, l<StV maud Ji, sections of the Ordi’ nafiee, of the City Council, be published in the Gazettes of this City, at least three times in each paper ; and that Mr. Groves, Mr. Harman, and Mr. Cline, be a committee to enforce a compli ance of the said Ordinance ; and that the Committee do not pro ceed to an examination till after the expiration of the said publi cations. And be it further ordain ed by tie authority aforesaid, That within three months from and after die pasing of this ouli. nance, evety house within the fi. mits and jurisdiction of the City, occupied and tenanted, shall be supplied wfih buckets, at the ex. pence of the owners of said prein. ises to the number of at least the number of fire places in the same, including such as are in the out buildings, and the said buckets shall be equal in goodness and size to those procured for the use of the City, and painted, on which shall also hepainted in vi sible characters, the name. of the owner to whom said buckets be long, and ip case the owner of a ny house or tenement shdald re fuse or neglect, to have the said buckets supplied agreeable to this ordinance, it shall and may be lawful for the tenant to procure the same, deducting it one of his rent, and lurihtrn.oe, it shall be the duty of the fire masters, each to go through his ward at least oncej in every three-months, and examine the state of the buckets in each house, and in ease of ‘de ficiency, to summoti, the ■ delin quent before the ncif City Coun cil, and on conviction lie, she, or they, shall be fined two dollars for every bucket he,, she, or they are < short of tire number required bv this ordinance,-and-no person hall make use of any,-bucket or rocured, for any other purposes but that of extinguishing fire, un der the penalty of one dollar for each and every offence, end ill case any person cr persons shall wilt ally detain or secrete from the lawful owner any bucket procur ed a3 aforesaid, he, she or they shall„on conviction, forfeit a sum not exceeding ten dollars, lor e very fire bucket so detained or secreted.
