ANECDOTE.
It was remarked of a citizen of
Dublin, that with the mod inflexible
honefly of condud, he had a let of
luch lingular opinions, that whenever
called upon as a juror, in quedions
about the excil’e laws, libel, or other
public trials, he condantly entertained
notions of the law and judice of the
case, different from tliofe laid down
by the judge, and taken up by his
brother jurymen ; but he as condantly
perievered in his notions until he
brought them all over. One of the
j udges asked him one day how he came
to be so froward, and to give the
court so much trouble ? ‘ My lord,’
laid he, with the utmost gravity, 1 it
has a ways been my misfortune to be
on a jury with eleven obdinate men.’
