had leave of absence to visit their
friends at Exmouth, gave account,

gate lu plied them with powder, and

The Jews of Avignon, in Italy,
with a view to lave their money,
took a very curious precaution : they
have in that city an inclofed church
burial ground, in which none but
Jews are interred, to which place
they had already conveyed a number
of coffins, filled with gold and filter,
which they had pioufiy buried ; hut
one dty the people, (truck with the
apparent weight of the corpse, became
fulpicious, flopt the proceflion, open
ed the coffin, and found in it a quanti
ty of gold and filter- The ground
was then fcarchcd, when th y found
several others wi ll similar content ,
which were all lent to the mint.

On Friday lull, a deputation from
the convention ot delegates for re
form in parliament, waited upon the
lord provort, wilhing that fix of their

with mr. Muir. His lordihip delircd

and ordered the inner turnkey to
l imit them when they came .to the

Judge their surprise, when they
proceeded to the jail, happy in the
thoughts of enjoying mr. Muir’s com
pany, the jailor refilled to admit them
without a written order.
One of the gentlemen immediately
waited upon the provost, to acquaint
him of the disregard that was paid to
his orders. Ilis lordihip informed
the gentleman, that he had alrered
his mind, and that it was a Handing
order of the town council, that only
two persons iliould lee mr. Muir at
one time.

A letter received from Charleflon,
