The young la-Jiea immediately shrieked for as sistance, and attempted to fly, when the "villain rushed from his hiding place, and ty blown several times repeated before as- sistauee could be rendered, knocked them both down insensible on the landing place ot the stairs, which, with the wull, was sprin hied with blood. He then, it is presumed mode his escape by the way he entered cr by the stairs to the street, and though the most diligent search was Im mediately made, no traces of him could be found. The villain must have been acquainted with the building, or he could sot have 10 easily eluded his purauera. The schooner which brought the letters to Curncoa, from Arttlia, re purled that ho saw 9 vessels at anchor at Los Tagttes, supposed tube s part of Morales’ squadron; pud that uftcr wauls alia fell in with two twigs and four schooners under Columbian co lours, to whom she gave the informa tion, when they made sail in quest of them.
