Mr.Glidden resorted to this place thinking that a southern climate would be more pro pitious to his declining health—but, alas! this was needless, as death had already, taken possession of its victim, and bid it re turn to its mother earth. In recording the death of this gentleman, perhaps it would be no more than giving justice her due, to say that he was a reputable advocate at the B.«r, a polite scholar, and an honorable member of the Masonic Lodge. Scarcely had half the time allotted out to man passed, ere he was prostrate in the dust by the mighty hand of the destroyer. What can more strongly exemplify the truth of the declaration, that in the midst of life we are in death ? Each moment on the former, shuts the grave— While is man growing, life is iirdecreasi.' * And cradlci rucA us nearer to the tomb. ComKiunicaUd.
