Majesty. The ship Zodiac, recently purchased by Com. Porter, at New-York, is intended as a store ship for the West India expedition. She iB armed at present with four long, 8“ and four 12 lb. gunnad ss, and under the command of Capt. Kearhey. The Zodiac was bought for 6,501) ddllars. The steam boat Enterprise, purchased at the same time is 130 tons burtheh, and cost 15,000 dollars. Constant has been sentenced to imprisonment for a month, and a fine of 5()0t for u libel. Parliament Wap not expected to meet before the 7th or 8th of February. Sir J. Mackintosh has been elected Rector ot Glasgow University. Mr. Jeffrey, as late Rector, made a speech giying his reasons.for voting for Sir James in preference to Sir VV. Scott who had also been put in nomination. Fifteen thousand pounds were rais ed by the friends of Mr. Childe to caf- Vy him through an election for mem ber of Parliament for Shropshire—but that sum not being enough for the ob ject, Mr. C. withdrew his name. .The elections in France have ter mjnated in the choice of a great ma jority, of Royalists. Hyde de Neu- ville is elected a deputy—B. Constant is uot elected. Marquis Fayette had a small majority in his department. Orator Hunt made his formal entry into London, Nov. 10th, with a caval cade of 10,000 horsemen, chariots, banners, inscriptions, &c. Lord Amherst goes out to India in the Jupiter 60 gun-ship. The weather was very boisterous on the British coasts the whole month ol November—and much damage wa> done to the shipping.
