Inforring from tlm .note nccDinpunying tlio

direct my attentioh to tho comparative pow
er of tho specimens, in destroying noxious bf-

chiefly to that objqpt. I find tho. American

French, which is probably attributable to its
more recent preparation.”

Mr. Wm. Underwood,
“ Having experimentally compared the

Mr. Wm. Underwood, .
Dear SirT—Since yon had the politeness to
send the bottles of Chloride, it must have oc
curred to you that my opportunites for exper
imenting with (lie two kinds, have been very
limited :• such however, is my confidence in
tho preparation, that it will be used at this
huarantinc, in future, to the entire exclusion,
itjs hoped, of all (hose fumigations which
qqvn heretofore been resorted to. In the pu
rification of vessels, damaged cargoes, and l|i
the hospital, it’will soon- be considered indis
pensable. Hides, horns, wool, rags, &c-
should never be landed , in a city, before un
dergoing the most thorough Ventilation and
purification, arid, the Chloride is the article rc-
uired.
I perceive no difference in Labnrraque’s
from tlio N. Co’s. Chloride jr tho American
rippears, in every respect, cqunl to tho French.
It'any difl'ercnce exists, at present, I liiivo |iot

A pleasing appearance is the first
letter of Recommendation.
Tfcftf'RS. VINCENT’S Genv.iue Gotland's
JLf A Lotion is the most pleasant and effec
tual Remedy for all Complaints to which the
Face and Skin are liable, by removing evejy
kind of Coarseness, Eruption, and Unpleasant
Appearance, and rendering the Skin Clear,
Smooth, and Transparent.
This elegant, safe, and mild preparation,
for the cure of all cutaneous disorers, for the
removal of all eruptions froni the face and
skin, and for improving, the most delieflte
complexion, stands ns a discovery without its
equal‘ih the annals of medicine:—its success
lias been found adequate to its merits the
the reception which it has met with in the
fashionable world, the many thousands o
rank and distinction who have adopted, con
tinued, and recommended its use, could not
but prove an inticement to contemporary jea
lousy. Like other inventions of merit and
importance in the medical world, it has been
assailed by weak hut mischievous imitation.
To prevent being so imposed upon, observe
the Name M. E. Vincent on the ^abcl.
The most tender Lady or Child may nt all
times make use of this Lotion with the great
est safety, and a few woeks application will
restore ev.en the most inflamed Face to a cool
and cloar transparent beautiful white and red.
A more innocent and salutary remedy is not
to be found in all nature. It stands unrival
led for clearing the Face and skin from all
Eruptions, Freckles, extraordhmry Redness
Effects of Surfeits, Heats, and Tumours,
Scorbutic Impurities, and dryness oft lio Skin
all Blotches and Pimples, from whatever
cause arising, hard Lumps or Knobs in the
Skin, the Greasy or Oily Appearance, livid
and sickly Paleness, Thickness, and Opacity
and fer clearing and improving thq Com
plexion.
A good appearance is certainly one o
those advantages which is silently operating
in our favour every moment of our lives, even
in our absence ; while a forbidding visage, or
one marked with disease, is more forcibly
acting, and unfortunately in a much greater
variety of ways to our disadvantage, than is
generally apprehended.
Persons wno regard either what is duo to
themselves, or the favour and opinion of the
world,—who can distinguish between the
comeliness Of health and the deformity of dis
ease, & who can weigh the advantages whicli
belong to and are inseparable from an enga
ging appearance, to which they themselves
have'by natqre the strongest claims, are seri
ously assured that those advantngeB are to be
obtained by the use of this Lotion, prepared
by Mrs. Vincent, sole proprietor of Dr. Gow-
land’s M.S. Recipe.
- Contrast the ruddy vigour of health, ani*
mating the vivid time of beauty, with the lan-
gourof apparent sickness let us consider
what are the advantages of one above the
other, even in the common and ordinary con
cerns oflife, which indeed have eventually de
cidcd the future fortune of thousands, by a
pleasing appearance at first sight, which are
to he obtained by thb use of this Lotion, pro-
pared by Mrs. Vincent, sole proprietor of Dr.
Gowland’s MS. Recipe; and every bottle o
the genuine is signed ilf. E. Vincent.
