Tins article having been made use of, in nu merous instances, by scientific persons of the very first st tilling, and always with certain success, the following modes of applying the Chloride, may he relied on as propor and ben eficial. With a sprinkling of water mixed with one frtieth of Chloride, the stench can ho in stantly put. down of the fihhiest kennels, sew ers, cess-pools, drains, water-closets,markets, stalls for meat and fish, slaughter-house*, and, in general, all places infected with animal exhalations. For foul ulcers, a wine glass of Chloride must be mixed with ns much as five times That quantity of pure water, and pledgets of lint must he dipped into this wash and then laid over the ulcers. This dressing to he re newed twice a day.
