The Wheeling furnace, no. far from
Birmingham, turns out from 85 to 100

ward iron mines, and close by the lime
stone quarries. Two miles north ol the
Woodward mines aie the Alice mines,

T. P- Woodall, of liartsell, had most
of the top part f the skull removed a
year ago. In January, 1882. he fell into

THE ELECTORAL VOTE.
The following is the text of the sub
stitute reported to the honse on the 10th
from the presidential law committee for
the bills relating to the election of presi
dent and vie/* president:
Section I. The elector* of each State
aha’l meet and give their votes on the
aecnnd Monday in December next follow
ir g their appointment, at such place aa
the legislature of such State shall direct.
Se. 2. It shall he the duty of the ex
eciifive of each State to eauso three lists

made and certified, and to he delivered,
as soon ns may be after such determination

It was at n late hour one rainy night
