EKCnACONVBE ABBOOIATION. —We visitod
on last Sabbath, says the B-irnesville Ga
zette, this body of Primitive Baptists, con
vened at Bethlehem church in Upson coun
ty, and were surprised at the large number
present. Every available spot was occupi
ed by buggies and horses, and every seat
under the arbor was filled. Two excellent
sermons were delivered and the exercises
passed off pleasantly and profitably, nothing
happening to mar or disturb the cerirnonies.
In the evening, however, two or three bug
g Cs were injured in the efforts of owners
t» eAilriCute them Irom the chaotic mass of
vehicles. The association adjourned on
Monday afternoon, after a most harmonious
session.
“Lf.T Us flat* Peace.”—We have con

Our wives are ttiudh opposed to our going
to the Legislature with so little preperation
of mind and body—=-in fact they think we
are too hasty about lenting hotne any how
they have not prepared our elothes for
the occasion. As we are the only parties
who have seemed at all interested in the
matter, it is hoped that this course will
give no great paiu to our many friends.

Mr. Editor : —As the day tor nominating
a candidate for the Legislature is near at
hand.it behooves the people of Upson t»>
cast ah ut and select a suitable person.
In making the nomination we should louse
ight of personal, denomination and section
al preferences, and look alone to ability
and integrity. We want an active man,
one who can not only vote, but who can act
also. Other counties are putting forth
their be k -t men—why should Upson he be
hind ? Talent—Legislative talent, will be
greatly needed in the next General Assem
bly. This is no time for “Pigmies.”
An Old Citizen.
[communicated j
The time has arrived when the votes of
Upson County should cast about in their
minds for some suitable and proper person
to represent them in the next lower branch
of the Legislature of the State of Georgia,
and as my nautc has been mentioned as a
suitable person for that high and honora
ble position, I take this method of inform
ing my friends, that circumstances beyond
my control prevent me from suffering my
name to be used in this convention. There
are already gentlemen in the field who
would serve their constituents with more
ability perhaps than I could. Nothing
would be more congenial to my feelings, to
know that the different gentlemen spoken of
as candidates would meet together and har
monize, and on the day of our nomination
let us have but one candidate proposed, so
as to present one solid front to the enemy.
In looking forward for someone to rep
resent us. we should by all meansselect one
that is qualified and e ligible to office.
For the flottering honors I have received at
your hands in days past, and for the notice
taken of myself of late, permit me to return
my grateful and heartfelt acknowledge
ments. D. W Wamble

Ayer’s Cherry Pectoral,
For Diseases of the Throat and Lungs,
such as Coughs, Colds, Whooping
Cough, Bronchitis, AstEfna,
and Consumption.
Probably never before in the whole history of
medicine, has any thing won so widely knd so
deeply upon the confidence of mankind, as this
excellent remedy for pulmonary complaints.
Through a long series of years, and among most
of the races of men it has risen higher and higher
in their estimation, as it has become better know n.
Its uniform character and power to cure the va
rious affections of the lungs and throat, have
made it known as a reliable protector against
them. While adapted to milder forms of disease
and to young children, it is at the same time the
most effectual remedy that can be given for incip
ient consumption, and the dangerous affections
of the throat and lungs. Asa provision against
sudden attacks of Croup, it should be kept on
hand in every family, and indeed as all are some
times subject to colas and coughs, ail should bo
provided with this antidote for them.
Although settled Consumption is thought in
curable, still great numbers of cases where the
disease seemed settled, have been completely
cured, and the patieht restored to sound health
by the Cherry Pectoral. So complete is its
mastery over Hie disorders of the Lungs and
Throat, that the most obstinate Os thfem yield to it.
When nothing else could reach them, under the
Cherry Pectoral they subside and disappear.
Singer Band Public Speaketi find great
protection from it.
Asthma is always relieved and often wholly
cured by it. ' .
Bronchitis is generally cured by taking the
Cherry Pectoral in email and frequent doses.
So generally are its virtues known, that we
need not publish the certificates of them here, or
do more than assure the public that its qualities
1 arc fully maintained.
Ayer’s Ague Cure,
For Fever and Ague, Intermittent Fever,
Chill Fever, Remittent Fever, Dumb
Ague, Periodical or Bilious Fever* 41c.;
and indeed all the affections which arise
from malarious, marsh, or miasmatic
poisons.
As its name implies, it does Cure, and does not
fail.' Containing neither Arsenic, Quinine, Bis
muth, Zinc, nor ahy other mineral or poisonous
substance whatever, it in nowise injures any pa
tient. The number and importance of its cures
in the ague districts, are literally beyond account,
and weLelicve without a parallel in the history
of Ague medioine. Our pride is .gratified by the
acknowledgments we receive of the, radical cures
effected -; n obstinate cas6s, and ~.Vi6re other rem
edies had wholly failed.
Unacelimated persons, either resident in, or
travelling fhrbugh*. miasmafic localities, will be
protected by faking the AGUE.CUBE daily.
For Liver Complaints, arising from torpid
ity of the Liver, it is an excellent remedy, stimu
lating- tiie Liver into healthy activity.
For Bilious disorders and’Liver Complaints, it
is an excellent remedy, producing many truly
remarkable cures, Where other medicines had
.< failed. . . .
