Ballou s Magazine p »k November-— We
have received the November number of
Ballou’s Magazine, and have read it with
interest, as we always do every month that
Ballou is issued. It has the best variety of
contents of any magaz ne in the country.
Its romances are always well written, its
sea stories such as only true-hearted sailors
can write, and all the reading is original
and of the best quality. There are 100
pages, 16 of them with illustrated subjects,
and all for the small sum of 15 cents, or
sl,oo per year. Great improvements at©
promised for thee unir.g year. All period
ical depots sell Ballou’s. Thornes & Tal
bot, 63 Congress street, Boston, are the
publishers.
Tor Radical editor of the Trussv lie, Ind.
Era uses the following polite language in
speaking of the editor of a rival sheet :
‘ The v.dcan'c, pimple-headed, blister
bramed, owl-faced, spike-nosed, weasel
eyed, web-toed, peg legged, lilliputian, fog
gy pettifogger of the Democrat, does not
like our personal appearance. Until this
foul-mouthed, unwiped, exerementitious,
brazen dehaser has been run through a
sieve, a filtei, scoured, scrubbed and disin
fected until he is a fit object to enter decent
society, we will forbear to have anything to
say about him.”
The Utica Observer thus speaks of ‘wind
hag’ Woodford, the Radical candidate for
Governor of New York:
Woodvori) AS AN Orator —He makes a
nice little speech does Mr. Woodford. It is
all about “turning hack the crimson tide of
war,” and being “wrapped in the radient
folds of our sunshine flag,” and “marching
to glory at the point of million bristling
bayonets.” It is a very pretty speeeh, in»
deed, hut there is but one of it, and it is
spoken sometimes on important occasions.
For instance, if was delivered at theradical
Judiciary Convention last spring and before
the nominations were made, this Mr. W.-od
ford arose to a question of privilege, and
commenced for a second time to rdl the
crimson tide of war, when an old farmer
from Essex cut him short with the
remark : “I say, Mister ! you said that
before 1”

Because he fs always lookitiz out for their interests.
One great cause of his popularity is because he sells

Ayer’s Cherry Pectoral,
For Diseases of the Throat and Dusks,
such as Coughs, Colds, Whooping
Cough, Bronchitis, Asthma,
and Consumption.
Probably never before in the whole history of
medicine, has any thing won so widely and so
deeply upon the conlidence of mankind, as this
excellent remedy for pulmonary complaints.
Through a long 6criea of years, and among most
of the races of men it has risen higher and higher
in their estimation, as it has become better known.
Its uniform character and power to cure the va
rious affections of the lungs and throat, have
made it known as a reliable protector against
them. While adapted to milder forms es disease
and to young children, it is at the same time the
most effectual remedy that can be given for incip
ient consumption, and the dangerous affections
of the throat and lungs. Asa provision against
sudden attacks of Croup, it bhould be kept ou
hand in every family, and indeed as all arc some
times subject to colds and coughs, all should be
provided with this antidote for them.
Although settled Consumption is thought in
curable, still great numbers of cases where the
disease seemed settled, have been completely
cured, and the patient restored to sound health
by the Cherry Pectoral. So complete is its
mastery over the disorders of the Lungs and
Throat, that the most obstinate of them yield to it.
When nothing else could reach them, under the
Cherry Pectoral they subside and disappear.
Singer Band Public Speakers find great
protection from it.
Asthma is always relieved and often wholly
cored by it.
Bronchitis is generally cured by taking the
Cherry Pectoral in small and frequent doses.
go generally are its virtues known, that we
need not publish the certificates of them here, or
do more than assure the public that its qualities
are fully maintained.
Ayer’s Ague Cure,
For Fever and Ague, Intermittent Fever,
Chill Fever, Remittent Fever, Dumb
Ague, periodical or Bilious Fever, &c.,
and indeed all the affections which arise
from malarious, marsh, or miasmatic
poisons.
At its name Implies, it does Cure, and does not
£ail. Containing neither Arsenic, Quinine, Bis
muth, Zinc, nor any other mineral or poisonous
substance whatever, it in nowise injures any pa
tient. The number and importance of its cures
in the ague districts, are literally beyond account,
and we oelieve without a parallel in the history
of Ague medicine. Our pride is gratified by the
acknowledgments we receive of the radical cures
effected in obstinate cases, and where other rem
edies had wholly failed.
Gnacclimated persons, either resident in. or
travelling through miasmatic localities, will be
protected by taking the AGUE CURE daily.
For Liver Complaints, arising from torpid
ity of the Liver, it Is an excellent remedy, stimu
lating the Liver into healthy activity.
For Bilious Disorders and Liver’Complaints, it
is an excellent remedy, producing many truly
remarkable cures, where other medicines had
failed.
