THOMAS BEALL,' IIISTOHY OF THE TOIES, BY M. D. J. SLADE, Of Macon, Ga. '■‘■Lege toturn, sci via scire tolum—Read all, if y OU would know all.” T IIE people of Georgia aro much in want of a medium of intelligence which will prompt ly transmit to them the “Proceedings” of their Legislature. We are not only generally, but in- dividually concerned ill all acts of legislation, be cause theso acts involve personal as well as polit ical rights, between which there exists a most in timate connexion. It is the interest then, of eve ry man in tho community ts be timely acquaint ed with the action of our representatives upon these rights. This is a desideratum—to supply which the. Journal is intended. At the present sve labor under much inconvenience for the want of it. For near, and sometimes more than three months, after the expiration of the session, the law’s of the State, with a few exceptions, are as a “sealed book" to tho great mass of tiie people; and frequently such are the injurious effects pro- duced by this delay, that men have been known, who, in obedience to a preceding, have actually violated a subsequent law which had been revers ed or modified—not knowing that a ntic had been substituted for an old law. lu addition to the entire proceedings of the Leg islature, the Journal and History, wi}l contain the general intelligence of tho dny, and its inter est will be increased by faithful reports of tho transactions of the important Redress Conve.n- tion of Georgia, which contemplates sitting in Milledgcviye, the ensuing session. Tho debates in tho Convention, as well as thoso in the Legis lature, will be regularly ayd correctly reported; for which purpose arrangomeuts an making with a capable and experienced Stenographer. The Journal aud History or rtir. Times, will ho published duilv, and tho Legislative and Conventional proceedings of each day laid in ex- ter.so before the public on tho subsequent morn* iug, and immediately transmitted to any part of tho State tt/which tho paper may bo ordered. Tho largo and interesting moss of information which this publication will contain, and the great expense which must bo incurred to carry it in'to operation, will reauiro a liberal pntronngo, ami SUcli a patronage the editor Hatters himself will be extended to him. It is unnecessary to enlarge on the eonvcmV enco and important utility of such a publication to members of tho Legislature, in enabling them to ascertain immediately the precisestnte of auv - measure in which they are interested and to keep their constituents advised of the progress of pub lic business, without thx abstraction of time and attention from their special duties, expended in letter writing. Terms—-The Journal and History cf the Times will bo published daily with a new type, by ma chinery, to be expressly procured for the purpose ■md on good paper, and will be put to subscribers at thoprico of live Dollars per Session, paya- ablo on the reception of the first cumbr. Those to whom subscription lists will be sent are respectful;y asked to lend their exertions and influence to the undertaking, and to make a return of any subscribers which may be obtained, by the 10th day of October. They aro particu larly reques ted to do so, that tho editor m - y be en abled to make the proper arrangements, end to furnish promptly the - first numbers to each sub scriber.
