Tlic new Motion Factory it Athens is actively | vebtiou, by declining to elect Delegates, but ma- j purely for elecliotieer;t;g purposes, is general’.<-

nrogress'iDg,; it will probably be in operation to
three or fonr montlis. A factory of.the same
number of spindles, (2501),) is about to .l>c estab

A Bill for; the alteration of the constitution
with a view to the creation of a court for the
correctid’u of errors of law, lias been reported by
3>lr. Cobb, of Houston; and it is perhaps super
fluous to say, that the measure has .our best wishes.
VVedo indeed most earnestly hope that the juris
prudence of Georgia will he ere long relieved
from tho reproach of the ..total want of central
controlling, equalizing, harmonizing power. The.
nieasnre is susceptible of uo party view or setili-
uients. There can bciic- party on the question,
but the lovers o,f regulated law aud those who
ire opposed or indifferent to it. Wo hope there
are but few of tho latter. The people have the
same right to^the same law, equally administered
in all parts of the State.—/*•

ments, not because they approved of ihe Couven
tiou, but that their Delegates might endeavor to
avert the evils which they anticipated from the
meeting, and in the expectation that these Dele
gates would withdraw whenever a course should
be adopted inconsistent with the rights of their
constituents.;
Third.—Wc conceive that a course has been a-
dopted, inconsistent,, not only with the rights of
our constituents, but with justice .to tho whole
peo’iilc. A very great proportion of those sitting
r,s Delegates have produced no sufficient evi
dence, that they are duly authorized to appear
in behalf of those co unties which they nominally
represent;' and-the majority of the Convention
has refused to institute and enforco such n scruti
ny as is Indispensable to tho investigation of this
essential fact. ' --
Under these circumstances, we deem it an im
perative duty to secede—attlxo same time enter
ing a solemn protest agaiust any authority or in
fluence, which may be claimed for tho acts of the
body which we have left, as acts of a Contention
representing tho People-of Georgia.

The .Anti Tariff Convention, brftng a new show
iu these parts, has excited a good deal of curios-,
ity. People from allparts (lock in to- look, at it,
as'they would toseoany otherstrango exhibition.
Ilonost country people think it sonic grand ca-
jaeon—a unicorn, or sea-serpent at least.
As yqt.this august assembly has done little else
than look at each other, and themselves,—drink
apple toddy, and visit the theatre. Some speech
ifying has, taken place upon prejitrtlnary ques
tions, io which several delegates distinguished
themselves beyond all conception, aud fairly as
tonished thrmsejvcs by the bvcrivlielmuing floods
of their dwn oratory. The prciinimarics. how
ever arc.not yet settled, and probably never .will
be—to tho entire satisfaction of their coustitu-

The little politicians, who make such etuispic-
uous figures in their own domestic spheres at
home, and havo .’tried to swell themselves into
cousequenco'here, arc brought down to their
own proper level. t By tho side of Forsyth, and

Postscript—3, P. M.
A string of Resolutions, drafted, as I under
stand, by Judgo Berrien, has just been introduc
ed. Though they go against the Tariff, and in
favor of a Southern Convc ulion, which is well
enough, they breathe nullification and sedition ;
from beginning to end. Aaul the reasoning aud
arguments by which this doctrine is advanced,
are entirely loo subtle and metaphysical for com
mon understandings—at •]
