Macon, Julv 1, 1832. 161 Barley.—An old English fanner, by th r name of Markmellor, w ho professes to under* stand the culture ol baudey, called on us a few days ago, and gave 11s die following particulars’ cf an experiment in raising barley in Baltimoro county. He prepared a piece of ground well, by manuring and ploughing, and planted 3000 grains of barley on 108 square yards—or a piece 18 yards long and 6’ wide. The grains were planted about 9 inches apart each way. The, ^ produce was one bushel and six quarts, weigh ing 45 ibs. to tl'.c lwshcli 3Ir.
