It is impossible at this stage of the proceedings

The Deb ties that have" been elicited are o& a-
WgH| interesting character. There tire ft uVtnf-
t'L\- rf first rate speakers in the convention ; mul-
tlie utidvcr in which-they have acquitted iTtoni-
»tjvc», shows they have mule tlio principles and
iustiiutioiw of the country their study.
There ii u strung party irtfnvor ol'ii*itig.upon,a
chile basis for the Senate. This would give the
couVolling power-hi thu .branch, to the upper
(couttiies. Another party, is for. a federal basis
exclusively—this Would place the power in the
hands of tho wealthy middle counties, A third
party arc for a territorial- btbts,—that is, that
square miles only should he considered, iu the
formation of the Senatorial .Districts. Sortie it*
gain arc for a mixed basis; and others still, arc
of opinion that iho'ceurJies only, should bo re.p-
ri seated in tho Semite.-''.
So it will he seen, that w hatever is done, will
havo to bo effected through compromiser| and
that the party, or section of country h iving the
most influence, will, iu nil prolmhilityget the bet
