I will say nothing in relation to patriotic consideration, which should at least, so far influence our citizens as to in duce them not to desert the land of tlieir birth or adop tion, unless, advantages of a superior character be held out to them; but, I will address myself to their interest alone. It is now two years since I passed through that part of Georgia, bordering on Flint river, when I was induced to inquire of tlie few scattered settlers I occasionally met, respecting the qualities of lands aud the prospect of health. Being fu4 vorobly impressed with the country, I spent some time in m iking a personal examination as to the extent of the rich lands, the advantages the country possessed in regard to water courses, the chance of erecting mills, and what might be ultimately anticipated from tlie na tural advantages when they should be fairly developed and appreciated, and I must say, my expectations were more lliau fully realized. I immediately made some purchases iu Lee county on cither side the Flint river, about four miles above a place called Pindertown.— Being convinced thattliis was tho most eligible site for a commercial town, and one that must possess ad vantages overall} - other place on this river. It has a central location to a large body of rich land. Tho site selected, is a beautiful cntiueucu of pine land, and has a bold bluff upon tlie river. It is immediately upon the post road from Augusta and tlie up country to Florida. It will also have a State road passing thro’ it front Columbus to St. Marys, besides the numerous thoroughfares that will be made from this ferry to com municate with different parts of the country. The counties of Lee, Sumter, and Baker, are on Flint river, and abound in the most fertile lands that are best adapted to tlie culture of cotton and corn. The face of the country is level, the rich lauds lying on or in the vicinity, of water courses which are abundant & never failing ; the timber is alternately oak, hickory, and pine, while the first is always upon strong land— much of the pine land also, will rate with tlie best in Georgia, in regard to the river, as far as my knowledge extends, it L not surpassed for the purpose of naviga tion by scarce any in the State with a small expendi ture to remove some temporary obstacles, which thro’ tlie wisdom of our Legislature, must soon be effected. The contemplated railroad, for which Thomas Spal ding Esq. has a charter, communicating with Flint & Ocmulgee rivers, will greatly benefit this section of country. It will perfect an inland communication from the Atlantic cities to those ofthe Gttlfof Mexico; a work much needed, both from its commercial advan tages and that of government. This rail road has its termination on Flint river, at the point before alluded to fora town site. I have entered into bonds with Mr. Spalding, to that effect, that the town will be laid out (luringthe present season, and the lots offered for sale , as announced in advertisement Front close observation, I discover, that those who are temperate in their habits, enjoy as full a share of health, as in any other part of tlie country in the same latitude. The society is gradually improving, and I think such inducements are held out, both by present and future prospects as to authorise an investment which will certainly yield a large per cent. I was afflicted four years with an ulcer in the leg, occasionally accompanied with erysipelatous inflam mation and excessive pain in tlie leg and ancle joint. Several eminent Physicians exerted their skill upon it. but without permanent benefit. In'this state, five bot tles of The Indian’s Panacea made a perfect cure. MARGARET A. WEST, 121, Meeting-st. Charleston, Jail. 20, 1832. This may certify that I was afflicted with a scrofu lous disease for several years, during which time I em-1 ployed several eminent physicians both in Philadelphia and Charleston, and also took several bottles of Swaim’s Panacea, but all without permanent benefit. During the last winter I was taken with an ulcerated throat, which soon became so severe as to prevent my taking sufficient food to sustain life. I remained in this situation several days, emaciated, and threatened with absolute and unavoidable starvation—when as u last resort, I had recourse to The Indian's Panacea, and found from it almost immediate relief, recovering so rapidly that in four weeks I found myself quite well, as I have remained ever since. She was entirely re lieved by taking two bottles of The Indian’s Panacea. Putnam Co. Ga., 1834. This may certify that I have been afflicted with the liver complaint these five years ; that I have been doc tored for it by several of our best physicians without effect; and that I was cured by taking nine bottles of The Indian’s Panacea, with some other little mercurial pills, directed by our doctor.
