The Indian outrage as noticed in our last,
turns out to have been an exaggerated account
of that transaction. Instead of the wife and
four children of Mr Brown having been niur-
dert'd, we are informed that Mr B. himself, was
killed, while his wife and children were only
beaten by these savages, and sustained no se
rious injury. The particulars otherwise are
correct.
\Vo learn from the last Little Rock paper,
that Coi. Davy Crockett passed through that
place about the 15th ult. on his way to Texas,
to join the patriots in their struggle for liberty.
The disturbances in Stewart county still con
tinue. On Wednesday of last week a party
of Hitchntec Indians 10 in number, and a hand
ful of white settlers, (15) luid a skirmish on the
Georgia side of the river, in which two Whites
were slightly wounded. The Indians escaped
unhurt, with the loss of two ponies which were
killed duriug the lire. We understand also,
that a party of these marauders were a few
days since, detected in killing cattle, in Tal-
boi county, and when discovered, made battle
upon the Whites.—Col. Enq.

A Hint.—We would suggest to the opposi
tion in Massachusetts, the propriety of getting
up a tremendous celebration of their triumph
in that State. They have elected their can
didate for Governor, by a majority of about
l-'.’WO, and last year their majority was about
«,000. Last year they elected all the State
Senators, and this year they have lost 18 out
of3(i. Their victory resembles very nearly
the one which onr opponents obtained, at our
hie election, in this State. As the opposi
tion triumph in Maryland, lias been celebrated
by a tremendous blow out, it certainly would
be very appropriate to have a similar celebra
tion in Massachusetts. We suppose that our
opjionenti have celebrated their success for the
tvason that they supposed it highly probable,
tint it was the last election they would carry
w the State, and consequently the last one they
yottld have an opportunity of celebrating; and
if the opposition in Massachusetts, for another
year, as rapidly as they have done for the year
past, lose ground, it is the last triumph they
»dl have an opportunity of celebrating in that
I late. It is therefore highly important that
"*y should improve the present opportunity,
an-1 celebrate their triumph before the time ar-
tives when they will have no triumph to cele
brate.—Bu.t. Rep.
